Hamzat-ul-Wassl (Saturday, 26 Oct)

This occurs at the beginning of words. It does not have any vowel sound
and there are two main ways for it to be recited SKIPPED or
PRONOUNCED.

On this particular class we will only learn the one where it is SKIPPED.

Hamzat-ul-Wassl - SKIPPED
If you connect the word that begins with Hamzat-ul-Wassl to
the word that comes before it, you simply skip over the
Hamzat-ul-Wassl, for example:

The rules of Stopping (Waqf) (Saturday 26 Oct)

This topic covers how to stop correctly either at the end of a verse or
the middle of the verse.

1. When the end is on any sound other than Fathah Tanween, recite as
if the last letter has a Sukoon. This rule will be the majority of the
cases.

The Rules of Stopping (Waqf) - Fathah Tanween

2. When the verse ends on Fathah Tanween, or you would like to stop
on a word that ends on Fathah Tanween. Recite as if the last letter
has a Madd Asli Alif instead, i.e. the sound it makes is a Fathah
sound, lengthen by two Haraakat, for example:
