Charoen Pokphand Confirms Trust in HatchTech

Brüterei Emsland started with a production of 400 thousand
doc/week in 2003. After a very successful period of growth, the
company currently produces 3.2 million doc/week, at the same
location, all incubated in HatchTech MicroClimer Setters and
Hatchers.
Recently, PT. Dinamika Megatama Citra (DMC), from Indonesia
signed the contract for the extension of their existing HatchTech
hatchery. After the installation of the new MicroClimer Setters,
DMC will have a total setting capacity of 380 thousand eggs per
week.
The leading agro-industrial and food conglomerate Charoen
Pokphand Foods (CPF) and HatchTech Group have recently signed
a contract for the supply of HatchBrood Units and HatchTraveller
Chick Transport Systems for their operations in Indonesia
(PT Charoen Pokphand Jaya Farm (CPJF)). After having installed a
HatchBrood unit in Thailand, Charoen Pokphand Foods herewith
confirms its trust in HatchTech’s equipment by investing again in
the revolutionary solutions for brooding and chick transport.

Brüterei Emsland Extents Intensive Cooperation
by Signing New Service- and Consultancy Contract
Recently, Mr. Daniel Hüser (General Manager of Brüterei Emsland)
and Mr. Willem van den Oetelaar (Senior Hatchery Consultant)
agreed on renewing the contract for Service and Consultancy in 2013.
Mr. Hüser: “For Emsland Brüterei, only the highest level of quality
is acceptable. After working with a service contract during the year
2012, we have decided to renew the agreement and extend it again
for the coming year. The service agreement has led to multiple
improvements of important details. At the end of the 12-month
cooperation in 2012, we were proud to be able in stating that our
customers’ satisfaction improved. We are happy that after working
together in good harmony for the last 10 years, we are able to join
our forces again in order to strengthen our mutual opportunity of
hatching maximum chick quality”.
Mr. Willem van de Oetelaar: “Customers realize that hatching top-
quality day old chickens covers a range of activities that should be
optimum. Via an open dialogue with our customers we are able to

In 2003 this shared focus lead to a fine cooperation during which
the construction of the Emsland Brüterei in Dohren, Germany, was
build, with an initial 420 thousand doc/week capacity.
With a current expansion 16 MicroClimer Setters 115200 and 16
MicroClimer Hatchers 28800, the hatcheries’ capacity is increased to
an impressive number of 180 million doc/year (or; 3.5 million/week),
making it one of Germany’s largest hatchery facilities.
The focus on quality and innovation led to an impressive growth of
the entire company. The production of the Emsland Brüterei increased
to an impressive number of 180 million doc/ year (or; 3.5 million doc/

of the leading poultry companies in Germany and even Europe.

Pre-Humidification leads to Year Round
Excellent Chick Quality
In hatcheries, it’s essential to have a ventilation system that controls
environmental parameters such as temperature, air flow, and relative
humidity. Within such systems, Air Handling Units filter and condition
the air to a preferred temperature level. But how can one assure the
perfect humidity level?
Disadvantages of Traditional Humidification
In all climates, the relative humidity of the air sometimes can get
so low that none of today’s traditional humidification systems on
the market have sufficient capacity to bring humidity up to the
necessary level. Air humidification is traditionally done by sprayers
or pad-cooling systems. These methods, however, have several
disadvantages in terms not only of quality (i.e., the level at which the
water evaporates into the air), but also of maintenance: pad-cooling
systems can freeze in the winter and dirty easily, whereas sprayer
systems, which get blocked by calcium deposits, require frequent
attention. An additional disadvantage is the large droplet size,
created by these traditional methods.
HatchTech Pre-humidification Unit: 24/7 perfect air supply
with optimum level of humidity
The HatchTech Pre-Humidification Unit is part of the ventilation
system, and is positioned just after the Air Handling Unit.
The Pre-Humidification Unit, in turn, contains six U-Vaporators™.
The unit measures the relative humidity of the air. If the relative
humidity is too low, the controller calculates how much additional
humidification is necessary, and activates the appropriate number
of the U-Vaporators™ to create it. The U-Vaporators™ emit small,
rapid vibrations, which create extremely small water droplets.
The result is a 24/7 air supply with an optimum level of humidity
for the setters and hatchers in your hatchery.

Distributor Meeting 2012
The successful annual HatchTech Distributor Meeting, held in
Veenendaal from 7 till 10 November, was attended by over 30
HatchTech distributors from 19 different countries.
A combination of theoretical, practical and social components
accounted for an excellent and well appreciated program.
Pre-humidification for a stable and optimum incubation environment
When more of the air conditioning takes place before it enters the
setter or hatcher, far fewer adjustments have to be made to the air
when it is inside the machine itself, which means that there is little
to no fluctuation in the environmental conditions in the setters and
hatchers. Such stable and uniform environment is one of the key
factors in achieving optimal and uniform chick quality.
Stable environment in all seasons
Day and night, winter and summer, wet and dry weather. All these
factors impact humidity levels. With the HatchTech Pre-Humidification
Unit, sufficient humidification can be created under all climatic
conditions, ensuring that optimal environmental conditions can be
maintained throughout the incubation process in order to achieve
superior chick quality.
A Practical Example
The need for pre-humidification after heating up air
Before outside air enters the incubator, the air passes an air
handling unit. Imagine a cold winter, with temperatures far
below zero ºC. The air handling unit will be programmed to
heat up the air temperature to approximately 25 ºC. Rule of
thumb: 1 degree ºC increase in temperature, results in 3%
lower Relative Humidity. So; heating up very cold air
(let’s assume -15 ºC), to 25 ºC, lowers the relative humidity
with 120%. In other words: humidification is needed to create
a good humidity level for incubation (approximately 50%).
