Physical Safety Considerations:

- Appropriate running shoes for activity
- Grass area is free from any holes and anything sticking out above ground
- Boundaries must be expressed to students so they do not run into other groups

Psychological/Emotional Safety Considerations (i.e., skill level, grouping, student

relationships):
- Avoid friends choosing partners with other friends. Make the selection random.
- Intervene and pair students with similar skill sets if needed.
- Limit the amount of competition

Individual Learning Needs:

How does this lesson connect to the interests and cultural backgrounds of your students?

How will you make this lesson connect to/reflect the local community?
This lesson will connect to the local community because students will

How will you differentiate instruction for students who need additional language support?
- Provide picture examples
- Use of demonstration

How will you adapt/modify instruction and activities for students with disabilities?
- Autism- visuals, schedule board, token economy, peer buddy, assign less difficult
locomotor movements
- Deaf- visuals, semi-circle, peer buddy
- VI- proximity from peers, peer buddy, physical guidance, sound sources

How will you differentiate instruction and activities for students who need additional
challenge (enrichment) during this lesson?
- Extend the tasks fort these students that matches their skill level, increasing the difficulty
of the tasks for students who are achieving the goal and decreasing the difficulty of the
tasks for students not reaching the goal.

Specific Accommodations (if applicable):

- Ensure students are all participating

INSTRUCTIONAL PLAN

Introduction (Informing): Good morning class! Today we will be working on a mixture of

muscular endurance and cardiorespiratory endurance. We will be doing a short HIIT workout.
HIIT stands for high intensity interval training which is a great way to burn calories. In the
classroom, we have gone over how to read a nutrition label. Now I want you all to analyze how
many calories are in one munchkin and be able to burn off all or more during the HIIT workout.

Okay lets head to the track for a warm up

TASK #1: Dynamic Warm Up

Cue: N/A
Time: 5 minutes
Materials/Equipment: N/A
Description (scripted): Students will do a quick warm up
- Jog Back & Forth
- Butt Kicks
- High Knees
- Walking Knee Hugs
- Quad Pull
- Lunges
- Hamstring Scoops
- Alternating Toe Touches

Transition to the next task: Okay everyone gather around

TASK #2: Description of the Activity

Time: 1-2 minutes
Materials/Equipment:
Description (scripted): Everyone will get ONE munchkin (make sure no one is allergic) to eat.
Most of the munchkins are 60 or 70 calories. On average, someone will burn 12-16 calories per
minute during a HIIT workout. If you put the right amount of energy into the short period of
timed exercises. We will be doing a short 10 minute workout together as a class. You can burn
on average 72-96 calories which is more than our desired goal. This workout will consist of 2
five minute sets.
USE STUDENT DEMONSTRATION

Transition to the next task: Okay class go ahead and spread out
