Philosophical Statement
I want to make my classroom a child- friendly and conducive to learning. I
will build a good relationship with students and their parents inorder them to feel at
home and feel the sense of belongingness. I want to teach and help my students learn
to cope with life. I believe that teaching merely for academic purposes only is
meaningless. I want them to know the importance of learning especially in
Mathematics so that they may be able to participate the world with competent and I
want them to apply the concepts in Math to their real life situations. I want them to
instill in their minds that education is not for grades only but for the development of
their whole self. I want to help them acquire and develop the KSAVs for a 21 st century
learners. I want them to realize that a well-developed learners are not only to those
who are academically excellent but also to possess good attitude and values.
Rules and Procedures
Discipline problems should be handled in the classroom unless it is very
serious offense. My students must show and act with respect towards himself/herself
and others. They should be always prepared when they come to school – completed
assignments/tasks, availability of required supplies and be on time of coming to
school. My students should show responsibility of taking care anything in the
classroom. They must do their assigned tasks with less supervision, if possible.
On the first day of the school year, I will let my students write their
classroom expectations and they will suggest some rules and consequences inorder
to formulate our class constitution. I would post the class constitution to our class
bulletin and send a copy to the parents/guardians and let them sign and return it to
me so that I can include them in what we are trying to accomplish in the classroom.
Classroom Arrangement
I will arrange chairs in a way that every students are safe and comfortable as
well as the teacher can access easily to each student. At first day of the class, they
are free to choose their spot whey they will be comfortable. But when I found out that
his/her seatmates are not in good influence, I will let them transfer from one seat to
another and split them.
At the back portion of the classroom adjacent to the observation table is my
working corner where my table and cabinet are located. This is also a place where I
can talk my students privately. The water dispenser is placed at the opposite side of
my table where everybody can access easily without disturbing others.
At the right side of the chalkboard is my reading corner where books are
placed on the bookshelves and a table where the television is placed on top and the
table is serve also as their reading table. I also placed a full-length mirror at the left
side of the chalkboard near the front door so that they can take a look at themselves
first before leaving the classroom and at the same time I can still keep an eye on
students even I am turning back to write something on the board.
Bulletin and BEIS are located opposite from the chalkboard which is
accessible to anybody who wants to read any information posted from it. My
classroom is well-ventilated with four (4) units of functional wall fans. Educational
frames like mission and vision of the school and other posters are posted in a
strategic way enable the student read and know the vision and mission of the school.
There are some well-framed paintings (students’ outputs) hang on the wall to display
the ir craftmanship. The medicine cabinet is also available in my classroom where
there are rubbing alcohol, cotton, sanitary napkin and some pain reliever medicines
are placed on it.

Misbehavior Interventions class.
In my eleven (11) years of becoming a class adviser, I am very thankful that I
did not yet encounter a very serious behavior problems of my students. This maybe
because in the very beginning of the school year, I established a good relationship Prepared by:

privately right after the class. The first offense will serve as warning but if the student Secondary School Principal II
insisted of doing his unpleasant behavior, I will call the attention of the parents or
guardians.
I have also this ability of giving special responsibility to those students who
are noted to be naughty in the class. I will let them feel that they are also capable of
doing right things and let them feel that I trust them.Like for example, I give the
classroom key to the student who always come to school late in order to encourage
him/her to come earlier. This is somewhat difficult but I am ready to take the risk
inorder to give them chance to realize his/her importance and will be able him/her to
develop his/her good attitude and values.

Classroom Safety
My first goal when I became a class adviser is to promote a classroom which
is conducive to learning. I establish rapport in the classroom by showing them
respect towards others. I keep a clean and orderly classroom. I allow students to be
openly expressive and encouraging to others and I let them feel that they are safe in
the classroom.

Student Celebration
Every end of the quarter, I usually posted the list of honor students, conduct
awardees, perfect attendance and early bird awardees. I even conducted a simple
recognition program in my classroom so that they will become more motivated to do
better and to let others encourage to achieve more and more. I also instill to their
minds that anybody who will do his/her task even with less supervision from me will

MY REFLECTION ON MY PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN
I strongly believe that education is a lifelong process. It can be formal
or informal way of learning. As I took this course, I had realized many
things which include my strengths and weaknesses as a teacher. I
discovered that my way of teaching is not enough for my students. So, I need
to gain more knowledge, skills, attitudes and values to be a good and
effective teacher. Though I had difficulty in making my Professional
Development Plan, I am still very thankful to have the opportunity of taking
the course in order me to be more knowledgeable and be equipped to face
challenges in the future.
My Professional Development Plan includes only the three (3)
required competencies on 21st Century Skills. I believe that these
competencies are my weak points and I would like to develop these inorder
me to be ready to teach my students according to their needs. The first
competency I would like to develop is the integrated and interdisciplinary.
My professional intervention is to engage in mentoring and coaching and
introduce in INSET/LAC Sessions. I also included the continuing education
of a teacher. Not all teachers have the opportunity to be sent to trainings.
This is the reason why I chose the mentoring and coaching as intervention.
Besides, there were many of the teachers who are capable to be a coach or a
mentor in our school. I believe that this intervention is very favorable
because we can see our coach or mentor as quick as we can and anytime as
needed. Teachers to be coached tend to learn and adopt new habits more
easily because they are actively engaged in the learning process. My other
intervention for the first competency is the continuing education of a
teacher. This maybe in a formal or informal way of learning and because
education is a continuing process, we need to learn more every now and
then. If I can’t pursue my doctoral due to financial constraint, I will take
available online courses or any short courses.
The next competency I would like to develop is to promote a global
classroom. Global education is integral to buid a 21st century skills which are very
important for the students' future to compete the increasing complex and connected
world. The intevention that I had were training and learning development. This can
be done by attending short courses and online courses related to on how to create a
global classroom. And also connect with other global educators online / coaching to
incorporate global perspectives of education in the classroom and develop classroom
assessment inorder to identify and support students at risk of not learning. There
were a lots of digital tools available inorder us to build our global community such as
skype, google hangout,google earth, etcetera. We can use this even without leaving
the classroom anytime as long as the internet connection is available.
Promoting student-centered classroom is my last competency that I would
like to develop more because this approach will develop problem solving skills of the
learners, foster collaborative learning, boost performance at work, facilitate
personalized learning and most of all it can make learning more fun. The
intervention is to engage in Coaching/Mentoring/Introduce in INSET Sessions and
structure learning environment that address the variety of learning styles, interests,

needs and abilities in the classroom. In structuring learning environment, this can be
done by encouraging the teacher to allow students choice and autonomy, develop
positive relationship and get the students involve in community-based activities and
service - learning projects like Community Garden, Tree Planting and others.

Lastly, I believe that sending teachers to trainings will be much appreciative

to gain more knowledge in a specific area but sending teachers out from the
classroom have a great disadvantage on the part of the students. It lessens the time
contact between teacher and students. In addition to, aside from financial aspects,
teachers are often required to spend time training during the summer and holidays.
