Subject 2017 Division-Wide Mathematics Fair and Critical Thinkers’ Quest Date n 18 SEP dir In preparation to the Regional Level Math Competition, Davao City Division will hold the 2017 Division-Wide Mathematics Fair and Critical Thinkers’ Quest on October 13, 2017 at Suhangin Central Elementary School, Buhangin District, Davao City. The following are the events to be contested: [Events Participants Level Public/Private 1. Only the winners coming from the districticluster level competitions (public and private schools} can participate in the 2017 Division-Wide mathematics Fair and Critical Thinkers’ Quest. School Heads of the concerned Participants, Coaches, Proctors Judges and TWG's must follow Division Memorandum No. 752 s, 2016, No-Disruption-of-Classes- Policy as stipulated in DepEd Order No. © s, 2005. Travel expenses of the contestants, coaches, judges, proctors, scientific review committee members, TWG's and staff including food and snacks of the contestants and coaches shall be charged against school MOOE/ local school funds, while food and snacks of the working committee, TWG's and staff shall be charged against Division MOOE funds all are subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations For your information, guidance and strict compliance. Asuncion, CESO VI Schools Division Superiifendent, (Enclosure 1): 2017 RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE DIVISION MATH QUIZ (Grades 1 to 12) 1, There will be 2 contestants per district in every grade level from grades 1 to 6 and 3 contestants per cluster in every grade level from grades 7 to 12. 2. Allcontestants will take the written test. The test will consist of 15 items easy questions, 10 items average questions 8 items difficult questions to be answered in 60 minutes. 18X2 = 30 pts 10X3 =30 pts. 8 X5 =40 pts. Total 400 pts. 3. The contestant who gets the highest number of points is automatically declared the champion, the second highest the runner-up and soon. 4. Should there be a tie among the contestants getting the highest score or the second highest score, a five (5) item tie breaking questions be administered to determine the champion or the runner-up as the case maybe, 5. The Proctors assigned shall be in complete control of the contest, Their decision shall be final in all questions. 6. The decision of the proctors is final, NOTES: 1, NO showing of test questions to the coaches. 2. Private schools will compete emong the private schools within the istricl/ cluster jurisdiction {Enclosure 2): 2017 Mechanics and Criteria for Strategic Intervention Materials (SIM) Competitions in Mathematics (Teachers’ Category) Mechanics: 1. Each district must have one (1) entry per grade level and two (2) entries per cluster from grades 7 0 11 2. Allentries should he submitted to the Division Records Section on or before October 6, 2017; Attn.: Antonio A. Apat, EPS- Mathematics for the pre-judging activity by the Scientific Review Committee. 3. Late submission will be accepted subject to five (6) points deduction per working day from the total points 4, Only top five (5) entries per grade level will be displayed at the Mathematics bazaar section during the day of competitions. 5. Only the top five (5) will be awarded the winners who will receive certificates of recognitions. 10. The first place winner will be automatically the entry of the Division Level to the Regional level SIM competitions (Enclosure 3)- MECHANICS OF 2017 DIVISION CRITICAL THINKERS QUEST 1. There will be 2 contestants per grade level in every district. 2. Real Life Situations and activity materials will be provided by the Division Office. 3. Registration form must be submitted or sent through emailon or before Octaber 9, 2017 4. In case one of the contestants is not available due to any circumstances, the alternate contestant is automatically part of the team. 5. There wil be two (2) phases in the compatition: Phase 1 - Situational Analysis, Problem Making and Solution (Grades 1-10: 20 min.). ¥ After the given time limit, all outputs will be collected by the members of the board of judges. *Phase 2 -Presentation of Outputs (5 min. ) and additional 3 min to answer the clarification questions ¥ Drawing of lots is done an the day of :he competition to determine the order of group presentations YA deduction of 1 point from the total points for every minute and of a fraction thereof in excess of the given time limit.
