Using Color Control Points - Enhancing Sky

I would like to enhance the dull blue sky in an image.

Response

While there are several ways to enhance color, the Color Control Point’s Color Picker
makes color enhancement simple. We'll use this feature to reproduce a clear blue sky.

Before
Image before enhancement. The
color of the sky is dull. We’ll
enhance the blue color of the sky.

After
Image after enhancement. The dull blue sky
has become a clearer, brighter blue.

Procedures

STEP 1: Position a Color Control Point over the sky portion.................................................................... 2

STEP 1: Position a Color Control Point over the sky portion

Select the Color Control Point tool.


Position the Color Control Point over the blue sky portion to be enhanced.
STEP 2: Choose a sky blue color from the Color Picker

Click the Advanced triangle in the Color Control Point dialog.


Click the Color Picker’s color swatch.
The Color Picker is displayed.
Click the Swatches triangle.
Select the desired sky blue color from the Memory Color Ranges’ Sky Tones.
The color selected from the Memory Color Range is indicated in the Color Triangle.
The selected color will be reflected in the Color Control Point dialog.
Click OK.

Selecting colors with the Color Picker
There are a number of ways to select colors in the Color Picker.
The Color Wheel adjusts hue. Select a color by clicking directly on the color, or by rotating
the Color Wheel.
The Color Triangle offers selection from the saturation and lightness range for a particular
hue.
Frequently used colors are displayed in the Swatches. Click on a color to select it.
Memory Color Ranges offers selection from common memory colors: Sky Tones, Skin
Tones, Foliage Tones, as well as a Neutral Tones range.
Colors selected using features – can be fine tuned in the Color Triangle.
STEP 3: Adjust the size of the Color Control Point

Adjust the effective range of enhancement by sliding the Color Control Point’s
uppermost Size slider.
The illustration below indicates Size adjustment for enhancing all over the sky
portion of the image.
