Preparing for Student Teaching

CONFERENCE ATTENDANCE: I attended the SCACEY conference. The

sessions I attended was growth and development and learned ways
that all kids learn differently and ways to accommodate all kids
through growth and development on different levels to meet each
child needs. Also attended the health and safety of children
sessions which talked about ways to keep kids healthy and safe.
Learned activities that could be done to teach on health and safety.
The health talked about meals and introducing new foods and fruits.
The safety talked about the environment and ways to have a safe
environment for kids what were hazards and what was not. I also
attended the physical activity session which talked about how
important it is to keep active and why it is so important for kids to
stay active daily and move about every thirty mins.I also attended
the curriculum session which showed ways to incorporate
curriculum in all activities and why curriculum is important.

ETHICAL DILEMMA: Ethical dilemma was not able to put things on

the walls because of school policy. I-3B1 To assist the program
quality of service.
P3.1 We shall follow all program polices when we do not agree with
program polices, we shall attempt to effect change through
constructive action within organization.
Steps I used to be talked to the teacher about doing a bulletin board
display that could be seen and up in the classroom without going
against the policy and putting things on the wall. This made it so
the work could still be seen, and students and parents still have
access to the bulletin board. So it was resolved by coming up with
another way to get the same thing accomplished but in a different
form.
COLLABORATIVE PLANNING: Talk on phone make lab days meet with
teacher to discuss the project I had already did and asked what
changes needed to be made so that it would fit the criteria for
student teaching. We also made meeting time in the study lab on
our own to brainstorm on what we were working on we really didn’t
change anything we just added more stuff to what I had already
done. We used the lab to make new material that was added, We
corrected the things that had flaws in them.

REFELECTIVE ANALYSIS: Things are going well so far just nervous.

ADVOCACY SKILLS
A advocacy skills that I could educate the parents and to educate
kids would be obesity. Identifying that is important that children
have a good healthy meal and get the proper nutrition. I would show
them how obesity is on a rise and affect kids at young ages because
of their eating habits. I would talk about different fruits and veggies
that the children can try. I would print out the importance of fruits
and vegetables, and ways that would promote kids to eat fruits. I
would send home information and different healthy meals and
snacks for kids and families to try at home. I would use strategies
that promote kids into trying new healthy meals and snacks. I could
send home with them a daily fruit and vegetables that they could
try at home. We can read books and try healthy snacks in class and
at snack time. I can also educate them with them on the affects
obesity have on kids by sending home pamphlets to the families.
SELF ASSESMENT
Self-assessment after conference assignment

After attending the HGTC mini conference and attending multiple

appropriate sessions, assess your growth as an early childhood
professional.

 How did attending the conference enable you to grow as a

professional? Reference sessions, exhibits, conversations, etc.
Be specific, thoughtful, and intentional!!
Attending the conference enabled me to get new ideas from Dr. Jean
and learn different web sites that can be used to get free material
from to help all children
Mr. B songs show how to get kids up and moving and learning at the
same time. The different sessions really were loaded with
information for all to help become better teachers.

 What do you plan to do with your new ideas during your

student teaching?
I plan to use it to help me become a better teacher and to run a
smooth classroom room that has a rich environment for learning.
