I- Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
 Use (verbals) infinitives and infinitive phrases in a sentence.
 Evaluate the message of the song.
 Heartily sing the song.

A. Preliminary Activities
1. Opening prayer and Checking of Attendance
2. Drill on Spelling of 5 Words (3 minutes)
3. Reviewing of the Previous Lesson
*What have we discussed yesterday?
*How do you understand the idea of gerund?
*Can you give an example of a sentence with gerund?
4. Motivation
*Do you have dreams in life? How do you achieve your dreams
in life?

B. Developmental Activities
1. Presentation
*The teacher will present the lyrics of the song entitled The Impossible Dream
by Frank Sinatra and let the students sing it with musical accompaniment.

* The teacher will present the following sentences and let the students identify what
the underlined words are called.
1. To plant trees is one its advocacies.

3. She likes to eat bananas.
4. To laugh is the best medicine for me.
5. They hope to accomplish it in five years.

3. Analysis
*The teacher asks the following questions:
1. What is the subject in the first sentence?
2. What is the subject in the second sentence?
3. What is the subject in the third sentence? How about in the Fourth and fifth
sentence?
4. How do the underlined words in each sentence used? Or how do they function?
5. What do you call those words that are being underlined?

4. Abstraction
*The teacher discusses the following and gives more examples:
 Infinitives are the preposition “to” plus the base form of the verb.
 The infinitive form of “learn” is “to learn”.
 You can also use an infinitive as the subject, the complement, or the object
of the sentence.

*The teacher will present the lines from the play Romeo and Juliet and let the
students underline the infinitives.

5. Application
*The teacher will instruct the students to look for a partner and ask each other the
following questions using infinitives.

Complete the following sentences using the infinitive as the object.

5. The priests request the townspeople_________________.

V- Assignment

Compose a poem about love using infinite phrases. Write it in a piece of bond paper
and recite it next meeting.
