LEARNING DISABILITY

Mark Becker lived with learning disability. When he woke up of his

diagnosis of having learning disability he feels troubled. His mother always told
him to be patient and take it step by step. His school seems just the opposite they
want his learning to be fast into the best standards and the materials he needs to
require in class. He was a learner who learned slower that most people. His life
sometimes goes on like an unsolved puzzle he can’t figure out where the little
pieces in order to feel he have succeeded, although it does not stop him. W hen he
put his mind to things he would like or maybe someday his learning disability
seems to disappear. Mark knows how to drive, so when he goes to school with his
car everyday has motivated him. He feels he can succeed but take longer for him to
comfort and that he needs to study to be able to succeed. When he go to school,
sitting in class with other students he feels that everyone was much smarter than
him, having the feeling can feel terrible if you are like him, thinking everyone was
going out to do something. He feels like no one cares about whether or not he
succeeds trying to get through the days. Little distractions bothering him, the foot-
tapping makes his ATD hard to pay attention, teachers yelling at him just to pay
attention, all of it makes him want to go home and sleep as the grades are passed
out. And also it is hard for him to organize him papers with time taking down,
before he leave, his area was a messed and he can’t understand how the person
next to him was already completely done. Going to his next class with his bag pack
is like he was not existing because seeing all the students walking in the hallway
talking to one another about their plans for the weekend but for him, he just passed
the halls without anyone talking to him.

Photography was something he loves to do and he enjoyed it. Taking

different pictures makes him proud because of the things that he achieved. Finding
someone who has the same way of learning like him makes him feel he was not
alone in a far journey, talking with Brandon, a friend he met while struggling with
being him has really taught him it’s okay to have learning disability. He also found
out that Brandon loves photography just like him but he was more into
videography and way better of it that I could be his friend that he can say are rare
to find but for him it’s a perfect one and he manage to be a great friend that he can
always count on, if he ever need someone to talk to.
The day at school comes and he sits in his final class working on homework.
He had trouble but had a lot of teachers to help him and now he feels that he
learned a lot of things and it’s depend to him on how he will handle his disability.
For me, Mark is a strong man because he didn’t give up whatever situation he
could encounter he always believed to his self that he can do it , it’s just he needs
someone to motivate him and love him.
HEARING IMPAIRMENT

Caldwell Jones has a problem on hearing or hearing impairment. so when he

grew up it was hard for him to express his feelings to others but when his parents
enrolled him at Merriam College, school for hearing impairment and his parents
also studied at Special Education for them to understand their child and to easily
communicate him to give the needs of their child. CJ grows as jolly and friendly,
so he gained many friends like him with hearing impairment not like when his
elementary grades he became violate and irritated. he can't handle his self because
no one understand him.

When he entered already in college he enrolled at UP/University of the

Philippines because he wants to achieved his dreams to be an artist so he enrolled
fine arts under visual communication. And his studies there went good but after
many days he became confused to his surroundings because he can't understand the
people around him and when his mother because his interpreter in their school he
thinks that her mother was controlling and hurting him. So he feels like alone
again. Therefore his parents went to psychiatrist again to check the condition of his
child. and the doctor said that he was experiencing depression since the people
around him are normal ,so he forlorn his studies and he can't focus anymore and
worse he attempt to killed his self. And the days goes by he became good in his
studies again. he got the award of best in thesis and he became a cum laude in their
class at University of the Philippines. His parents were so proud of him because
their child already achieved his dreams and he appreciated all the sacrifices and
suffers of his parents for him and he was very thankful to his parents because they
never gave up on him even he hurts his mother she still there to care and love him
whatever happens.

For me, I salute CJ, despite of his handicap he stands to his belief that he
will become a successful individual even there is a barrier which is his hearing
problem he will achieve his dream the important is you have the interest and
determination to do it, there is nothing impossible.
BLINDNESS

Marc suffered from cone-rod dystrophy, giving him only limited

peripheral vision. He is living in Los Angeles, traditionally known as a good transit
or mobility City but he can get to everywhere using L.A as a public transit if he
needs to go somewhere it’s only a matter of time and the sunglasses. Despite his
handicap, Marc works as the digital content manager for the L.A Philnarmonic. He
has ways of working around his disability. When he go to comedy show and when
he order a lower-end drinks, finding out what lower-end drinks are available was
the first challenge to him and he will order the thing whose name he heard and that
would not have done worse as far as he will get his drink that he wants without any
embarrassment because he just don’t want to call that much attention because there
is a serious like embarrassment level to it and he was thinking maybe it was just as
insecurity thing but so often he would be rather be perceived as like slightly
awkward than handicap because he would like to be more than just a blind guy.

For me, Marc is a strong and brave person because even he has a disability
still he found a work for him to survive. That’s the spirit that we could simulate
especially the people who have a disability like him because others who have
disability didn’t believe to theirselves. Because others how are normal don’t have
trust to the people who had disabilities, what they know is they are only
encumbrance and burden to the society which is very wrong. Person with disability
can also do the things that normal people do. As an individual, we don’t need to
discriminate those people and make them feel alone instead help them to
experience to be normal person in our society.
BEHAVIOR DISORDER

Maddy has behaviour disorder, sometimes she feels she can’t breathe
like she feels claustrophobic, she gets sort of panicky that led her hard to breathe.
Maddy seems to be having difficulty at school and it seems to be getting worse.
When her teacher gave her activity to do she can’t finish it like she can’t stay long
at one corner and her desk was a mess and she definitely can’t stay organized and
she was having the same problems at their home. Maddy has always had a lot of
energy but in their classroom she was always had trouble kind of sitting it feels she
was not comfortable and also has a difficulty in sleeping because she was afraid in
her room, she always imagining things. And sometimes if other people talk to her,
she don’t pay attention to them because she feels like boring, like she always
wanted to go home, like she said in the video, she would be happy if she can’t go
to school anymore, it’s like she don’t have an interest in everything. Maddy can’t
handle/ control herself.

Therefore it needs guide for her to control her behaviour, so that it will not
affect the people around her because it could affect with the actions of Maddy.
This situation of Maddy it’s really hard to handle it because she can do what she
says and it gives no respect to others.
EMOTIONAL DISABILITY

Emotional disabilities are a real thing that affects thousands if not hundreds
of people every day. People with an Emotional Disability suffer from
uncontrollable mood swings and overwhelming sadness and anger.

Andrew Chanser is a real person with real Emotional Disability. In his

school when the teacher called his name to read wants in the blackboard, he will
say, I don’t know and he became angry and walkout to their room. And if they
have activity he can’t concentrate like there is always gumugulo to his mind.
Andrew always changes his mood. Experiencing intense anger, agitation, or
sadness.
