VILLASIS, PRINCE BRYLE E.

BSECE 2
Quiz #1: Chapter 1
The first chapter discusses the definition and experience of globalization
1. Even without having the chance to go abroad, how
globalisation carried out in your everyday life, from the time
you wake up until you go to sleep?
- It has been my daily routine that from the time I wake up, I fix
my bed, then I would immediately go to the sink to wash my face
and to brush my teeth. After eating my breakfast, I take a bath and
brush my teeth again, then I will wear my uniform, and I would go to
school. Dance rehearsals have been added to my daily routine,
because it is also part of my scholarship. So, every after dismissal
on the last subject, I immediately go to the studio to rehearse for
almost 3 hours or more. I even have no problem at this at all, since I
am used to it even when I was in elementary and high school. When
I got home from rehearsals, I just take some rest and eat my dinner.
After eating my dinner, I study a bit, then I fix my things to bring on
the next day. Lastly, before I go to sleep, I pray, then I make sure
that everything is fixed, and I would turn off the lights.

2. The chapter notes that there are two premises to

globalization (a) it occurs at multiple levels; (b) it is an
uneven process that affect people differently. Give an
example for each as it relates to your observations and
experiences.
- Internet is an example of globalization than occurs in multiple
levels, because most of the people nowadays are using internet.
This has been a mean to find easily what you are looking for. It also
has a big factor to everybody, because it helps us to gather
information and it lets us know about the happenings in our society
or in the world. Using internet also helps us to connect to
everybody. It can also be useful to those who are looking for a job,
but employment nowadays is one of the means that affect people
differently. As we all know, you cannot get a higher position if you
do not have a degree. We can say that it should be necessary, but
make sure that if you have a degree and you got the position that
you aimed for, you must not step on others who are below you.
Many people just using their positions to be a superior to others.
They should not be like that, because that is one of the reasons why
some got terminated. If you have a degree and on a high position,
be thankful and help others to improve, instead of stepping on them
and being a superior.
3. Discuss Appadurai’s concept of globalization according to
the how you understand it?
- Appadurai’s concept of globalization does not only focuses on
one thing. It talks about different areas and it makes us understand
how globalization works or affects us in our everyday lives.
