Collaboration using
Tech:
Communication between educators, parents, and
students is the key to effective collaboration.

Brooklands Elementary began a school wide

program called, “Bear Dens”. Bear Dens are
monthly lessons that promote positive behavior
and learning attitudes such as building habits
and “sharpening the saw”. Each student is

the opportunity to work individually while
working collaboratively. This saves valuable
time and energy. The Bear Dens are also an
opportunity to teach students about how to
collaborate with one another. Including a visual
representation such as short clips from teachers,
movies, and interactive games, students can
better learn and collaborate with students of all
ages.

CO-LEARNING DURING COVID-19

An essential part of my student
teaching experience was collaborating
and meeting weekly with my 3rd grade
team. We used our weekly meetings to
plan curriculum for the coming weeks,
bounce ideas off each other, and plan
for assessments. We were fortunate to
be able to use technology such as
ZOOM to keep our weekly meetings during COVID-19. ZOOM allows
for face to face interaction, as well as options such as screen sharing. I
found this to be useful for team, staff, and student meetings. The
screen sharing even allowed for teaching lessons to students. With
the advances in this technology I am able to keep a sense of
community with my mentor teachers as i prepare for my future in teaching.
