Introductory Course:

Oxford Smart Choice Book 1: Units 1-6
*The following content should be aligned with Oxford Smart Choice Book 1: Units 1-6.
Basic Vocabulary: Alphabet, numbers, dates, days of the week, months of the year, seasons,
body parts, places around the home and the town/city, descriptive adjectives,
school/workplace supplies, most common verbs (50-100) in base form, greetings, and
vocabulary related to the content topics below, etc.
*Introduction to CEI Written Codes for written activities and assignments.
Tense Structures:
Present Tense of Be, Simple Present Tense, Present Continuous, Past Tense of Be.
Grammar Functions:
-Personal pronouns and object pronouns.
-Possessive forms: contractions, possessive adjectives, possessive pronouns.
-Wh-Words Questions: What, Who, When, Where, How *Brief intro to How much/how many.
-Basic frequency adverbs and time expressions.
-Basic Prepositions of Place and Time.
-Demonstrative Pronouns: This/That/These/Those.
-There is/ There are.
-*Brief introduction to Can/Can’t- Could/Couldn’t.
Content Topics:

Beginner Course:

Oxford Smart Choice Book 1: Units 7-12
*The following content should be aligned with Oxford Smart Choice Book 1: Units 7-12.
Basic Vocabulary:
-Review A1 vocabulary on first week.
-Most common verbs (100) in past form.
-Vocabulary related to the Content Topics below, etc.
-Basic business/administrative careers vocabulary.
Tense Structures:
-Review A1 structures on first week.
-Simple Past Tense, differences between Present Continuous Tense and Going to + Verb to
express near future plans, intro to Future Tense.
Grammar Functions:

Content Topics:

Basic Vocabulary:
-Review Beginner vocabulary during first week.
-Most common verbs (50-100) in past participle form.
-Vocabulary related to the Content Topics below, etc.
Tense Structures:
-First week: General Review of grammatical structures covered in past courses.
-New Tenses: Future Tense, *Present Perfect, intro to Past Continuous.
Grammar Functions:

-Changes in society.
-Influential people around the world.
-The pros and cons of College Life: social life, stress management, challenges, time
management etc.
-Major historical events in the world.
-Intro to debates, forming informed opinions, and the structure of a written essay.

speeches of at least 3 mins, and short written cohesive essays of 45-55 words, with an
introduction, body and conclusion.
Upper Elementary Course:
[A1+, 3rd out of 3 courses to attain CEF: A2]
Oxford Smart Choice Book 2: Units 7-12
Basic Vocabulary:
-Review Elementary vocabulary during the first week.
-Most common verbs (100-150) in Present Participle form.
-Vocabulary related to the Content Topics below, etc.
Tense Structures:
-First week: General Review of grammatical structures covered in past courses.
-New Tenses: Past Continuous.
Grammar Functions:

-Shopping Habits.
-Describing Preferences as well as Giving advice about relationships.
-Discussing Past Experiences.
-Climate Change, Global Warming, Mayor Catastrophes in our Country.

*Towards the end of the course students should be able to produce short informative
speeches of at least 5 mins, and short written cohesive essays of 55-75 words, with an
introduction, body and conclusion.
Pre- Intermediate Course:
[A2+, 1st out of 2 courses to attain CEF: B1]
Oxford Smart Choice Book 3: Units 1-6
Basic Vocabulary:
-Review Upper Elementary vocabulary during the first week.
-Most common verbs (150-2000) in Present & Past Participle form.
-Vocabulary related to the Content Topics below, etc.
Tense Structures:
-First week: General Review of grammatical structures covered in past courses.
-New Tenses: Present Perfect Continuous/Past Perfect.
Grammar Functions:

*Towards the end of the course students should be able to produce short informative
speeches of at least 8 mins, and short written cohesive essays of 75-100 words, with an
introduction, body and conclusion.
Intermediate Course:
[A2+, 2nd out of 2 courses to attain CEF: B1]
Oxford Smart Choice Book 3: Units 7-12
Basic Vocabulary:
-Review Pre-Intermediate vocabulary during the first week.
-Most common verbs (200-250) in Present & Past Participle form.
-Vocabulary related to the Content Topics below, etc.
Tense Structures:
-First week: General Review of grammatical structures covered in past courses.
-New Tenses: Past Perfect Continuous/Past Modals/Have or Get Something Done.
Grammar Functions:

-Verb Patterns: All forms of BE, Say, Tell and Ask + Infinitive or Gerund.

speeches of at least 10 mins, and short written cohesive essays of 250-300 words, with an
introduction, body and conclusion.
