I feel that now after taking this class I am still 50 50 on what I am going to do. This class
has shown me a lot of what the profession is like, but I do not know if I am willing to do 3 more
years of schooling for it. The way I think is all over the place in the sense one moment I am like
yeah, I am going to do this and the other moment I really do not want too. If I were to continue to
do this profession the knowledge and skills that I have are that I am already inside of a school.
With being a PE Aide I get to see all students K-5 and interact with them all in the activities. The
interactions with the students have taught me a lot about how I react and the differences in
behavior for each type of grade level. I have developed the ability to talk and make the students
understand certain topics and when they get in trouble help them make better choices. I feel like I
understand a good amount of the complexes of the school system here in Nevada. In saying that I
also know that there is way more to learn, and you do not really know the system until you are
My educational philosophy will dictate the way I teach things and the way I interact with
the students. When we were learning about philosophy orientation, I had reconstruction,
progressivism, and existentialism. The meaning behind most of those orientations is the belief of
each students having the ability to think individually and create their own ideas. Then also that
student's behavior is not predictable, but they reflect their home life and environment outside of
school. I think the historic events will affect the way I interact with students to make sure I am
not doing anything wrong or offended anyone of them. Also, with the increase in cases with
teachers getting in trouble with their actions with or towards their students, will make me be on
You cannot always teach the same way because it bored your students and it is no fun for
anyone. So, switch up the lessons, do a variety of things like mini projects or outside activities or
group activities. With student diversity I will try my best to understand and relate as much as I
can to each student's background and make sure they do not feel that there any different from
anyone else because of their ethnic background. Student variability is something I feel that will
take time because each student is different and have experienced different situations so getting to
know them would be the approach. Behaviors I will deal with as they come and deal with them
early so it sets the structure for the class. Assessment of course must be done but will try to make
sure they hold up to the standards and make sure the results having meaning.
Some qualities that I feel that I need to possess is being more observant, creative, and be
able to present an open and caring feel. I am observant to a certain degree but in a bigger setting
of people or kids, I would struggle to pay attention to the little things or hints students give. In
the class I observe my teacher was able to have conversations with me but keep an ear and eye
out to what the 35 students in her class were doing. The creative aspect I have ideas but find it
hard to have them relate back to the material in the sense that I can come up with fun things to do
that probably won't relate back to what is being needed to learn. The experiences at my job
between me and my coach I am the one who deals mostly with the kids who cry or are struggling
in class. I feel that I do a good job but there moments with certain kids that are consistently doing
things they know that is wrong but still do them. Then I feel as a guy involved in this profession
you need to have a soft or friendly vibe so that the kids feel comfortable and willing to listen and
learn with you. The only education or employment things I am going to take is just keep working
at my job and learning each day with being in a school and getting that exposure. After this
education experience if I feel motivated to continue, I will just keep going through the classes
