III. OBJECTIVES

a. To familiarize various parts and functions of the welding machine

b. To understand the process of operating the welding machine

c. To be able to identify the application of the welding machine

3
IV. INTRODUCTION

An arc welding machine is the tool that provides the high current needed for the

welding of arcs at relatively low voltage. The relationship between voltage and current

has to adhere to a certain set of rules for it to be a good tool to use.

The unit usually has a power inlet (for electrical machines) and a variety of outlets

including a ground terminal. To both, thick copper cables connect to the holder of the

electrode and to the piece of work.

Auto-welding was introduced in 1920. It used bare electrode wire worked on

direct current and the arc voltage used to control the feed rate. P.O. discovered Automatic

welding. General Electric Company Nobel. It was used for the construction of worn

motor shafts and worn crane wheels. The automotive industry also used this to

manufacture rear axle housings.

V. APPLICATION OF WELDING MACHINE

 Shipbuilding
 Automotive industries
 Construction industries
 Mechanical industries

VII. PARTS OF WELDING MACHINE

 Power Input – provides power source to the machine

 Control Handle – controls the current of the machine
 Earth Cramp – holds unto the metal workpiece to complete the circuit
 Electrode Holder – holds the electrode that comes in contact with the
metal workpiece

VIII. CONCLUSION

After researching about shapers and it functions and applications, I have been

able to understand the process of operating an arc welding machine. I have also learned

about the different applications of an arc welding machine. With this said, I am now

capable of handling an arc welding machine and be able to use it to make a workpiece.

IX. RECOMMENDATIONS

When researching about arc welding machines, make sure to avoid

Wikipedia.com as your source since the site is an open source site which can be edited by

anonymous users and may lead to unreliable information about what you are researching.
