Q1) I agree there is a contradiction. Agreeableness is one of the Big Five


personality traits, agreeable individuals are better liked than disagreeable
individuals. Agreeable employees are often pleasant, hardworking, compliant and
tolerant whereas disagreeable people tend to be self-centered, cold and
aggressive. Agreeable people always make their co-workers feel comfortable. In
the interview, the criteria for choosing an employee are not only how excellent
the person’s ability is, but also the person’s personality. However, agreeable
people are less likely to get promotion or earn high salary. This is because in a
very competitive world people need to have a voice and stand out to gain
attention of others, and agreeable people are just so confirmative that their
opinions are easily ignored. Disagreeable people have far better ideas and
innovations and they aren’t afraid to present them and face the back lash and are
more focus and engaged so will perform better.

Q2) An organization will always face different types of situations so it needs


different types of employees. In situation where employees are asked to work
more than they are job requirements agreeableness will become an important
virtue. Jobs like customer service, education, psychologists need to have
agreeable employees for eg customer service needs to deal with angry customers
by agreeing to their demands to maintain the company’s reputation of customer
satisfaction. Agreeableness would be harmful if a boss says to do a certain work
which can harm the company or is not right according to you all blame can come
upon you and you can be fired. Jobs which require leadership agreeableness can
be harmful you have to have your insight.

Q3) Agreeableness has always been a quality of women as women are seen as
social and caring for others and more tolerant than men. Women are generally
less pressured to earn for the family and men have the responsibility of earning so
men become more disagreeable to get more promotions. If women become
disagreeable they won’t be hired as their looked down as less innovative
compared to men.
