Dear Student,

Year 11 Update - Subject-Specific Transition Work

Congratulations to those of you have completed phase 1 of your transition work. You will have
received your certificate on completion of your EtonX 'resilience' course. Well done to those of
you who have also undertaken the extension task and completed the FutureLearn course on
'study skills'.

PHASE 2 - SUBJECT-SPECIFIC TRANSITION WORK

If you intend to continue your studies at Isleworth & Syon, you will be expected to complete this
work. It is also available for any student working towards another plan for September. The
transition materials cover A level subjects, vocational level 3 subjects and our level 2 offer, which
includes work for retake GCSE English and maths. You will need to choose the courses that you
realistically believe you will be studying in September and follow the guidance you were given at
your post-16 interview in February. These materials can be found on the Sixth Form Independent
SharePoint here. Please select 'Year 11-12 2020 transition Resources' and then the subject
folder to access each subject's materials.

Details:
• Pick a minimum of 3 and maximum of 4 subjects, if taking A level subjects.
• If taking vocational level 3 subjects, you should be completing 2 or 3 subjects (depending
on your combination of subjects).
• If taking Level 2 courses, you will need to complete the work for public services, alongside
English and maths retakes.
• You need to upload completed work. This will be:
o into the class notebook on the Y11 Teams page
o using your named section in one of the four transition tabs available
• Support is available through the 'Transition Year 11-12' channel on the Year 11 Teams
page. Please do not email subject staff directly.

Monday 1 June:
• Deadline for completing work. It will then be checked by subject staff and be used as part
of your enrolment interview post-results.
• If you have completed work, you will then be given:
o a reading list to help you prepare further for the demands of Sixth Form; and
o activities lists that will be useful for future job or university applications. There are
already some companies discussing adding an interview question of ‘What did you
achieve during COVID-19?’

We very much look forward to welcoming you back to school and working with you in the Sixth
Form in September.

Yours sincerely,

Mr J Doyle
Assistant Headteacher – Sixth Form Leader
