1.) Control systems

A control system manages , commands , directs , or regulates the behavior of other devices or
systems using control loops. E.g. washing machine , light switches , gas ovens.

2.) Commercial Information processing

The use of powerful computer systems to collect and process large volumes of data at high
speed. E.g. airports

3.) Industrial information processing

Industrial data processing is a branch of applied computer science that covers the area of design
and programming of computerized systems. E.g. control systems , computer Aided design.

4.) Scientific Information

A technical information that investigates the properties and behavior of information. E.g.
observation , Analysis & Interpretation .

5.) Machine Readable

Machine Readable data is data in a format that can be easily processed by a computer. E.g. Hand
, laser scanner , disk drive.
6.) Human Readable

A data format that can be conveniently read by a human. E.g. PDF .

7.) Turn around Document

A turn around Document is a document that has been output from a computer, some extra
information potentially added to it , and then returned to become an input document. . E.g.
meter cards , boarding passes .

8.) Types of errors : Accidental , Deliberate , transmission.

Accidental errors – An error of observation that cannot be controlled. E.g. source of error/
precautions.

Deliberate errors – characterized by deliberation or cautious consideration. E.g. cautious designs

Transmission errors – errors caused by noise or Other impairments during transmission from the
transmitter to the receiver . E.g. arcing relays.

Data verification : A measure to check whether the inputted data matches with that in the
source document. This measure is carried out manually. E.g. confirmation , Inputting data twice.

Data validation : Data validation is a feature in Excel used to control what a user can enter into a
cell. E.g. drop down list , date videos.

Range checks : An automatic computer check to ensure that data entered is sensible and
reasonable. E.g. A data can be entered between 1 Jan 2005 and 31 Dec 2010 , students grades
take on values between “A” and “E”.

Reasonableness check : A reasonableness check would ensure that data meets the expected
range , type , or value. E.g. ( SSN ) social security number.

Data type check : The data type check is a useful way of quickly finding values that have been
entered into the wrong fields in a user application .E.g. Dashboard , statistics ( valid & invalid
records.
