Philippines to host 2019 SEA Games

After accepting the offer of hosting the Southeast Asian Games (SEA) Games, Philippines
is set to host the largest biennial multi-sport event in the region, 2019 (30th) SEA Games which
will held on November 30 to December 10, 2019.
"Our masterplan for 30th SEA Games will be the best ever SEA Games," said Ramon
"Tats" Suzara, the 2019 SEA Games planning and coordination office executive director.
Moreover, the places that will be used in the said event will be Clark, Subic, and Metro
Manila as the main, second, and third hub, respectively while the opening ceremonies will be
held at Philippine Arena in Bulacan.
Aquatics and athletics will be hosted in Clark, along with baseball and softball that will
be held in Clark International Sports Complex, containing the largest baseball facilities in the
country.
Subic will be the host of sports such as duathlon, triathlon, windsurfing, and sailing.
Furthermore, Metro Manila will utilize various places for the SEA Games: Mall of Asia
Arena and Cuneta Astrodome will host the basketball events, Araneta Coliseum for the
volleyball games, Rizal Memorial Stadium for the footbal event and SMX Convention Center for
boxing, gymnastics and muay thai.
The country is expected to welcome over 8,000 athletes and coaches, and over 2,000
technical officials for the 2019 SEA Games.
"We are not doing a SEA Games level of organizing the events, we are doing it as Asian
Games level," Suzara said. "We need more financial support, but we are really pushing for more
private funding."
