NOTIFICATION
Bengaluru North University invites applications for various types of affiliation from the affiliated Colleges /
recognized institutions situated within the Bengaluru North University jurisdiction viz., Bengaluru Urban
District (C. V. RAMAN NAGARA, K. R. PURAM, MAHADEVAPURA, PULIKESHINAGARA, SARVAGNA
NAGARA Vidhana Sabha constituencies.), Bengaluru Rural District (DODDABALLAPURA,
DEVANAHALLI, HOSKOTE Vidhana Sabha constituencies), Chikkaballapur and Kolar Districts for the
Academic year 2019-20 as prescribed in Sections 59 and 62 of the KSU Act, 2000 and also as specified in the
KSU( (Amendment) Act, 2015.
1. RENEWAL OF AFFILIATION:
Applications are invited for renewal of affiliation to the existing courses, additional new courses and enhancement of intake in
the existing affiliated Colleges under the Faculties of Arts, Science, Commerce and Management and Education. The Colleges
intending to apply for renewal of affiliation/ enhancement of intake to BHM, MBA, MCA should obtain prior approval of
AICTE, for BASLP, MASLP or B.Sc./M.Sc.(Speech and Hearing) courses from Rehabilitation Council of India, and for
B.Ed./B.P.Ed/M.Ed. colleges from NCTE and such other authorities as applicable.

NAAC Accreditation: As per the State Government Circular No. ED 76 UBV 2011 Bengaluru dated:17- 05-2011 and
Bangalore University Circular No.Aca-III/NAAC/2011-12 dated:09-06-2011, the Colleges which have completed 5 years are
informed to adhere to the standards circulated by NAAC compulsorily from the academic year 2012-13 and obtain a minimum
of 'C' grade. The Principals of all the colleges have to make efforts to adhere to the directions of the State Government issued
from time to time. Renewal of affiliation to such colleges for the academic year 2019-20 is subject to NAAC accreditation of
'C' grade. However, this condition is subject to State Government's direction issued from time to time.
Checklist for the grant of Renewal of Affiliation/Enhancement or reduction of Intake/Additional course/Permanent affiliation/
Renewal of Permanent Affiliation and the guidelines are available in the University Website.
2. AFFILIATION OF ADDITIONAL COURSE:
The Colleges can apply for affiliation for starting additional courses under the Faculties of Arts, Science, Commerce and
Management. The courses can be mentioned in column 7(b) of Renewal of affiliation application form. There is no need to
submit separate application. Colleges should seek affiliation to only approved combinations of UG courses as existing in
Bangalore University. List of approved combinations are posted in the University Website.www.bnu.ac.in
For starting of P.G. courses: Colleges having permanent affiliation or atleast five years of continuous affiliation only
shall be eligible to start postgraduate programmes. Those colleges which do not have NAAC accreditation shall apply to
NAAC for accreditation within 2 years from the date of affiliation to P.G. programmes. The Colleges having less than 5 years
of continuation of affiliation and New Colleges (Fresh affiliation) are not permitted to apply for affiliation to any P.G. courses.
The eligible Colleges intending to apply for affiliation to P.G. Programmes have to mention the P.G. courses in
column 7(b) of Renewal of affiliation application form and also they have to submit a preliminary report showing the details of
infrastructure such as qualified staff, laboratory, library etc and other facilities available and developed for each programme,
with proof of sufficient financial and other resources for sustaining the programme, along with the application. The Govt.
Colleges should have prior permission from Dept. of Collegiate Education to apply for P.G. Courses.

3. ENHANCEMENT OF INTAKE:
The Colleges can apply for enhancement of intake to courses under the Faculties of Arts, Science, Commerce and
Management. In case of P.G. courses, colleges should note that, they are not permitted to seek enhancement of intake to P.G.
courses more than the intake fixed in the respective University P.G. Departments of Bengaluru North University and also
Bangalore University.
College should not make any admission in excess without valid sanction by the University.
4. FRESH AFFILIATION TO START A NEW COLLEGE (EXCLUDING P.G. COURSES):
The Managements/Society/Trusts registered under Societies Registration Act/Trust Act, are eligible to apply for Fresh
affiliation to start new Colleges (approved UG courses/combinations only) in the Bengaluru North University jurisdiction.
Note: 1. Managements/Society/Trusts are not permitted to apply for affiliation to B.Ed./B.P.Ed. course as per the NCTE
directions.
2. Only existing colleges are permitted to apply for P.G. Diploma, Diploma and Certificate courses.
5. PERMANENT AFFILIATION/CONTINUATION OF PERMANENT AFFILIATION
(EXCLUDING P.G. COURSES):
Permanent Affiliation: As per Section 62 of KSU Act 2000, the colleges affiliated to Bangalore University continuously for a
period of not less than 4 years and one year in Bengaluru North University; and fulfilling the conditions of affiliation and
attained the academic and the administrative standards on an average stipulated by the University from time to time shall be
eligible for grant of permanent affiliation. As per G.O.No. ED 37 UBV 2007 Dt: 9-4-2007, colleges must be accredited with
NAAC, with at least ‘C’ grade.
Renewal of permanent affiliation - The colleges which have completed the term or period of Permanent Affiliation shall apply
for renewal of permanent affiliation.
The colleges should submit separate application for Permanent affiliation/Renewal of Permanent affiliation and renewal of
affiliation along with the prescribed affiliation fee. The Government vide circular No. 227 URC 2017 Dated 07.07.2017 have
specified the period of permanent affiliation as 5 years, 4years and 3years for the colleges which have been accredited with A,
B, and C respectively by NAAC.
6. SHIFTING /CHANGE OF NAME/CHANGE OF MANAGEMENT ETC.,
Requests for Shifting of Colleges, Change of Name/Management, will be considered under section 59(5) of the K.S.U. Act,
2000. Colleges willing to apply for the same should submit separate application with copies of the relevant bonafied documents
such as, a) Resolutions of the Governing Body/Trust of the college, b) Building plan, Sale/Lease deed, c) NOCs from other
Departments, if any etc., as required, along with the prescribed fee.
Note: Colleges/Managements should note that, the permission for Change of Name/Management etc.. has to be approved by
the State Govt.
7. APPLICATIONS:
Separate applications for - a) Renewal of affiliation (UG) /Additional Courses (Rs.1,100/-), b) Renewal of affiliation (PG) /
Additional Courses (Rs.1,100/-). c) Enhancement of intake (Rs.1100/-) d) Permanent/Continuation of Permanent affiliation
(Rs.2,100/-) and e) Starting of New College (Rs.2,100/-), f) Starting of Integrated B.Ed. College (Rs.2,100/-), g) Shifting/
Change of Name/Management (Rs.1,100/-) are available at the 'Office of the Registrar, Jnana Jyothi Auditorium, Central
College Campus Palace road, Bengaluru-560 001' or at office of the Registrar, Administrative Block, Bengaluru North
University Tamaka, Kolar-563 103, on payment of prescribed fee for each application which shall be paid to the University
bank account in favor of the 'Finance Officer, Bengaluru North University. Bengaluru -560 001.
8. AFFILIATION APPLICATION FEE AND SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS:
The filled in application forms in all respects (along with Preliminary Project Report, in case of additional P.G. courses, if any)
are to be submitted in person, in 8 sets along with the fee paid challan/ receipt to the University bank account drawn in favour
of ‘The Finance officer, Bengaluru North University’ (For SC/ST Colleges/Managements, affiliation fee payable is 50%, as
per Government Order No. ED 21 UBV 2004 Bangalore dated: 15-5-2004) through online to the University bank account
in favor of ‘The Finance Officer, Bengaluru North University’ (to be remitted by the college to the University funds, on or
before 26.10.2018(4 P.M.) and with late fee of Rs.2,000/- up to 03.11.2018(4.P.M.) in the Office of the Registrar Bengaluru
North University, Jnana Jyothi Auditorium, Central College Campus, Palace Road, Bengaluru - 01 or Office of the Registrar,
Administrative Block, Bengaluru North University, Sri Devaraj Urs Extension, Tamaka, Kolar-563 103
Note:
(1) Refund of affiliation fee is as per the revised Statutes pertaining to affiliation of colleges/Institutions of Bangalore
University.
(2) Fee paid by the college towards in-eligible courses will not refunded/adjusted.
(3) Application sent by post will not be accepted.
(4) Colleges should mention the Karnataka Assembly Constituencies to which they belong in their application with
evidence.

Note: The Statutes, Rules and Regulations related to affiliation process of Bangalore University holds good for
Bengaluru North University for the year 2019-20.
