Music Lesson Plan

Title:​ Little Sally Walker Grade Level: ​2nd grade

Materials needed:

Procedure: ​Anticipatory Set, Instructional Input, Modeling, Checking for Understanding,


Practice, Closure

A.S: “Who likes to go on walks? Where do you go on walks?”

1) Have kids get into a circle, “We are going to pretend our circle is a street”
2) “Let's talk about a girl named Sally Walker” Pretend you (teacher) is Sally Walker
3) “I'm going to sing a song, listen to me”
4) “Lets try and sing it, Repeat after me” Teach the songdo each phrase ONE phrase at a
time first. Then sing two phrases together and add on. Teacher sing first and have
students repeat back.
5) Walk around the circle and sing (have students sing with you) “Little Sally Walker down
the street..” (demonstrate the movement being added)
6) “She didn’t know what to do so she stopped in front of me” Stop in front of student you
were in front of and dance
7) Dancing (encourage students to be creative and have fun with there dances) “She said hey
girl do your thing, do your thing, do your thing, do your thing and SWITCH” Switch
spots with that person
8) Repeat until all students got a turn

Closure: “What did Sally do when she didn't know what to do?” “Do you think she’s having
fun?”

Educational Objective: ​ By the end of this lesson, students will have learned . . . how to listen
and identify specific parts of a song, while singing and be able to demonstrate their
understanding with movements.
