Problem Statement:
Research conducted by the Ministry of Education and the private sector in the Cayman Islands reveals that young adults in the 17 to 21 age group do not possess the skills which are needed
for employment.
Goal: To prepare young Caymanians for the job market by helping them to transition from high school to full-time employment through enhanced literacy, effective communication and on-
the-job training.
Assumption
Basic literacy skills will be
developed
Participants can develop skills of
preparing professional resumes,
proper deportment for interviews
and workplace etiquette
There will be better social
interaction among participants, thus
enhancing their ability to work in
teams
These participants can have a
clearer perspective on the type of
job that suits them and further
maintain employment
Participants are motivated to
continue their education and to
define their career interests
The tasks will provide personal and
professional hands-on training

Classes are geared towards the provision
of basic skills, using face-to-face methods
of delivery
Workshops on topics such as writing
resumes, appropriate professional attire,
interview skills, and pride in performance

Acquisition of “passports” with stamps
indicating levels of success in completing
programme activities
Possibility of earning weekly stipend based
on established criteria
Job placement - participants are attached to
local businesses and organizations where
they gain on-the-job experience
Extra-curricular activities, such as
involvement in community-based activities

Output
Execute P2S programmes three
times a year
Facilitate three cohorts of young
people ages 17 - 20 years for twelve
weeks on a full time basis, five days
a week
Conduct a special programme for
one cohort of single mothers for 16
weeks on a full time basis, five days
a week
Provide one week of community
service and work placement days
for all cohorts
A weekly stipend with potential
performance related bonus
P2S’s curriculum includes a wide
range of topics which support the
programme’s overall mission

Outcome Impact
Participants now have Young persons are better able to seek and
