1-What is the significance of the scene between Elizabeth and John


Proctor? What does it reveal about their relationship and about each
of their characters?
John tries hard to please Elizabeth, but it is extremely difficult for him due to
her depression after she knew that he cheated on her and this shows that John
and Elizabeth Proctor seem to have a somewhat strained relationship

2-What is the gift Mary Warren gives to Elizabeth? What might it


foreshadow?
Mary warren gave Elizabeth A poppet. This foreshadows the bad intentions
of Abigail and she wants Elizabeth to be more accused for practicing
witchcraft

3-What role does Mary play in the trial? Why does John forbid her
from attending?
After she gave them the information and names she became the court official
.john forbid her from attending because he doesn’t want to be part of the
community and doesn't believe the trials are necessary.

4-Why does Reverend Hale come to the Proctors' home? What does
this scene reveal about Hale's relationship to the other judges?
Reverend Hale went to Proctor’s home to check their Christian status and to
investigate in Elizabeth proctor’s and see if she is really practicing witchcraft
or not case and this shows that Hale has higher power and authority to
accuse people /He has to do ehat they order him to do.

does he claim to know? What is the point of the discussion
between Hale and the Proctors about whether or not they believe
in witches?
He said that they were acting ill because they were in the woods and they
didn’t want to get on trouble and he claims to know by saying that Abigail
told him. When they had discussion Proctors said that they believe in witches
and wizard and that they believe that anything that the bible says however
they don’t believe that wizard and witches are among them

of his revelations?
He went and told them that His wife, Rebecca, Francis nurses wife have been
arrested for practicing witchcraft and this is significant because since the
Proctors don't live inside the community they don't know what is going on
and what is really happening around them

7-What do we learn about why Mary Warren gave the poppet to


Elizabeth?
That she is dumb somehow and that she is a fool because she took the
poppet from Abigail and gave it to Elizabeth by saying that she made the
poppet while she was in the court and she was trying to make herself busy in
fact she was trying to frame Elizabeth for witchcraft but she later admits she
made the doll and stuck the needle in its stomach
8-What role does Cheever play? What is revealed about his
character?
He arrested Elizabeth proctor-The court’s clerk that arrest people- and this
shows that he is self-obsessed with his importance in the court and that He
comes up with any reason to accuse people

9-What event begins to change Hale's opinion about the arrests?


How does he feel about the court?
When Elizabeth was arrested and actually he was surprised because he
didn’t have control over the court and he feels that the power is passing out
of his hands and He starts being doubtful because everyone is getting
accused, arrested and killed. He starts doubting the process of the court.
