PVT Laboratory Analysis and Their Practical Applications in Solving Oil

Field Problems

Introduction
The training program explains the types of reservoirs and discusses the PVT analysis of
each type. Each analysis embraces the validity check of samples, constant mass depletion (CMD)
to determine the bubble point or dew point pressure, flash liberation stage, constant volume
depletion (CVD) stage, differential liberation stage and separator test. The calculation techniques
and development of empirical correlations were also outlined. The trainee is also enable to
understand the quality control of the PVT data. The duration of the course is 5-days: 2-days
for reviewing the background of PVT analysis and 3-days for practical training in Central
Petroleum Laboratories (CPL).

Lecturer
Prof. Dr Saad Desouky is head of Production Department, Egyptian Petroleum Research
Institute and manages PVT Analysis Center. He holds B.sc, M.sc and Ph.D in Petroleum
Engineering. He participated in teaching several petroleum courses in two colleges of
engineering, Al-Azhar University (Egypt) & King Saud University (Saudi Arabia). He also
participated in teaching training courses for engineers and operators of different oil companies:
SUCO -Egypt, SPC -Syria, KOC - Kuwait, ARAMCO -Saudi Arabia. He published 65 papers in
the international recognized journals and conferences.
