Skill 2: Counting Lesson Objective 2: The children will gain an understanding of the numbers 1-10 by counting cookies out on to their plate. A. Visual Motivation 1. I will have the game set up halfway. B. Verbal Motivation / Introduction 2. I will ask the children what their favorite cookie is. 3. I will ask the children what cookies they think are in the books. C. Detailed Steps 1) Sort the cookies in to separate pills. 2) Count these pills. 3) Pick a color plate. 4) Pick 10 cookies and put them next to your plate. 5) When it is your turn role the die. 6) Move that number of cookies on to your plate. 7) Ask who has more? 8) Ask who has less? 9) Ask who has the same? 10) Play different variations of game. D. Conclusion 1. I will ask the children to sort the cookies in their pills after the game. 2. I will ask the children to count the cookies out. 3. I will put the game in the math center as an activity. V.
