Dear Friend,
Greetings in the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible
gives us a clear path to follow if we will take it. When your world is turned
upside down, there is only one thing to do: look to Jesus Christ! Hebrews
12:2 says, "Looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith..."
Looking to man sometimes brings a partial answer. But many times we find
that the counsel of men fails in the long run. You can look to yourself, but
again, we don't have all the answers.
To look means "to consider attentively." So as I consider what course of
action I need to take I consider the Lord Jesus, because He overcame
everything for our sake. He even defeated the last enemy of man: death. The
reason I personally believe He rose from the dead is because when I called
upon Him in the day of my trouble, He answered me! When I was lost in sin
and shame, He forgave me. He took my sin and guilt and shame away, and in
it's place, gave me a peace that passes understanding, and freedom of mind
and heart. He justified this repentant sinner!
To look or consider something doesn't mean you have to accomplish
some great feat of strength. To look doesn't require great sums of money. To
look simply means to turn your attention towards a different object. If you are
viewing sin or corruption or something that weakens your faith, then turn and
look unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of your faith. Consider what He did
to save your soul. Contemplate the great love wherewith He loved you. You
may not understand why He loves you, but just know He had reasons to go to
the extent He did for each of us.
The Lord is the strength of our lives, says the Bible. We might be weak,
but He is strong! Paul was given a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan,
to buffet him, or keep him from being too puffed up about what he knew. Paul
had great revelations of Christ and in order for him to keep the human touch
the Lord allowed this thing in his life. The flesh has a tendency to exalt itself
above others. Whatever this "thorn" was, it disturbed Paul so much he prayed
about it being removed three times. He thought it was holding him back. But
the Lord spoke to Paul, and said, "My grace is sufficient for thee: for My
strength is made perfect in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9). Are you
feeling weak today? Let Jesus Christ be the strength of your life!
I hear many people tell me they have a special "call" on their lives. And I
believe them. But what does that call look like? Is it to make you great, or
make the Lord great in you? How can it come to pass when there is weakness
all around you and maybe in you? Paul said, "...for when I am weak, then
am I strong." When I am feeble in any sense, dis-eased, impotent, or weak,
then am I strong, powerful, or capable through Christ who strengthens me!
The Lord is become my salvation. The Lord is my peace. The Lord is the
strength of my life! I know wherever I attain to it is by the grace of God. It is
not of my works. It is because of His mercy He called me and placed me
where I am. My boast is not of me, but of God who called me!
Another Scripture says, "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord,
and in the power of His might" (Ephesians 6:10). There are areas we are not
strong enough to gain the victory in. By looking to our Lord Jesus, He
strengthens us. He is the Redeemer of fallen man. He is the Creator, the Alpha
and Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end. He was alive, and
was dead, and now ever lives, seated at the right hand of the Majesty on high.
Only Jesus Christ could take a group of misfits, call them to follow Him, bring
them together, and turn the world upside down! Are you a misfit? Even in
Christian circles? The Lord doesn't care what circle of friends you have. He
can call you out of wherever you are. Just because you failed in the past does
not stop God from working with you and leading you on in His perfect plan!
Give Him your past, your present, and your future. He won't cast you out! He
will help you and give your life purpose and meaning. Follow the Lord
Jesus...follow Him. He loves you and will never lead you astray.
I invite you to join us on Facebook live Sundays at 10 am and 7 pm, and
