Vacuum Consolidation System method is a method of soft soil repair

which is one of the alternatives that should be considered in overcoming a
decrease in soft soil consolidation, especially in project areas that have difficulties
in procuring embankment material.Vacuum Consolidation System method in
Indonesia is still not widely known, because there are several constraints.
constraints are the lack of literature that can be used as a reference in the planning
and implementation of vacuum loading in the field. Evaluation of soft soil
improvements using Vacuum Consolidation System method needs to be done to
add literature and new soil parameters as a reference for work on the land in the
area.
In this study an evaluation included 3 geotechnical instruments in which
the settlement plate was used to evaluate soil degradation theoretically and the
Asaoka observation method and the actual degree of consolidation. The results of
the calculation of the degree of consolidation from the settlement plate are
compared with evaluating the excess pore water pressure using a reading wire
vibrating piezometer. Vacuum gauge has a function as the effectiveness of
vacuum pressure on the ground given, for the effectiveness of the vacuum pump
itself is used 80%. Soil laboratory data obtained is incomplete so this study
discusses soil parameters using back analysis method.
The results obtained from this study are the comparison of actual and
theoretical decreases on average of 0.743. for the average prediction of final land

subsidence with observations of the Asaoka method the results were 912.97 mm.
The average degree of consolidation from readings was settlement plate obtained
at 91.86% while the degree of consolidation from the reading of vibrating wire
piezometer was 84.36%. With an effective pressure of 81 kPa the vacuum pump
reached VG SP 11 reading in the 165th day, the VG SP 12 reading in the 195th
day, the VG SP.13 reading in the 148th day. The results of back analysis have an
average value of mv of 0,000616 m² / kN, kv of 0,000034 m / day, Ch of
0,002097 m² / day, and Cc of 0,698.
