Description: The project consists of the installation of a methane collection and flare system, to be placed in the cells of Portillo Grande landfill. Por-
tillo Grande landfill has an area of 307 hectares that currently receive 30% of the Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) of Lima around 1,500 tones per day.
It will be developed by Metropolitan Municipality of Lima.

Description: The project consists of the installation of a methane collection and flare system, to be placed in the cells of El Zapallal landfill. Portillo
Grande landfill has an area of 350, currently 40 hectares has been used to waste disposal. It will be developed by Metropolitan Municipality of Lima.

Earliest project start date: 2009.
Operation start date: 2011.
Project lifetime: 30 years.
Current Status: Identification and pre-selection phase. The municipality
of Lima is evaluating how to develop the projects and is taking conver-
sations with several carbon buyers in order to find the best deal.

An average of 54,213 tCO2-equivalent per year.

It generates 10 new jobs.
