EM 260/340/410/510 Base frame BG 10 with drying box; prepared
for fitting a UV drying unit (type MD4, GEW company)

Description
The inverted drying box in base frame BG
10 (last printing position) enables an
increase in the length of the drying path of
the hot air drying unit. An increased
drying path length may be necessary when
using certain inks or varnishes to enable
these to be completely dried.

The prerequisite for application of this unit

is the use of a standard drying unit on a
base frame BG 08 (overall length 390 mm)
as downstream unit.

By extending the drying box, base frame

BG 10 can be fitted with a UV drying unit
(type MD4 of GEW company) and with a
cooling roller (water or air).

1. Safety
Please observe the general safety
instructions at the beginning of this
manual. In addition, please observe the
safety instructions of drying unit BG 14.

If the base frame is fitted with a UV

drying unit (type MD4 of GEW company),
the safety instructions of the manufacturer
must also be observed.

Caution:
Risk of cutting injury through exposed
running edges of web.

air to the drying box must be closed.

3.6.3.2 UV drying unit

If an ink or a varnish is used for which the

hot air drying unit in the following base
frame BG 08 (16) provides sufficient
drying capacity, the UV lamp should be
switched off (see operating instruction
