INTRODUCTION

Online Gallery is the process whereby consumers directly buy goods or

services from a seller in real-time, without an intermediary service, over the
Internet. It is a form of electronic commerce. An online shop, e-shop, e-store,
internet shop, web-shop, online store, or virtual store evokes the physical
analogy of buying products or services at a bricks-and-mortar retailer or in a
shopping centre. The process is called Business-to- Consumer (B2C) online
shopping.

E-commerce is fast gaining ground as an accepted and used business

paradigm. More and more business houses are implementing web sites
providing functionality for performing commercial transactions over the web.
It is reasonable to say that the process of shopping on the web is becoming
commonplace.
The objective of this project is to develop a general purpose e-commerce
store where any product (such as books, CDs, computers, mobile phones,
electronic items, and home appliances) can be bought from the comfort of
home through the Internet.
However, for implementation purposes, this paper will deal with an online
book store.
An online Gallery is a virtual gallery on the Internet where customers can
browse the catalog and select products of interest. The selected items may be
collected in a shopping cart. At checkout time, the items in the shopping cart
will be presented as an order. At that time, more information will be needed
to complete the transaction. Usually, the customer will be asked to fill or
select a billing address, a shipping address, a shipping option, and payment
information such as credit card number. An e- mail notification is sent to the
customer as soon as the order is placed.
Page |3

Online Gallery allows you to browse through endless possibilities, and even
offers merchandise that's unavailable in stores. If you're searching for a niche
product that may not be distributed locally, you're sure to find what you're
looking for on the internet. What's even more useful is the ability to compare
items, similar or not, online. You can search through multiple stores at the
same time, comparing material quality, sizes and pricing simultaneously.

Shopping via the internet eliminates the need to sift through a store's products
with potential buys like laptop, smart phone, tablet and camera all slung over
one arm. Online shopping also eliminates the catchy, yet irritating music, as
well as the hundreds, if not thousands, of other like-minded individuals who
seem to have decided to shop on the same day.

CHAPTER-2
PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION

2.1. Existing System:

In the existing system all transactions, dealings of products, purchasing of
products were done manually which is time consuming. Reports are prepared
manually as and when needed. Maintaining of reports is very tedious task. To
buy any product user has to collect information about it either by visiting the
shop or asking people which is the better one.
There is no computer system for handling payments. All calculations are
performed manually which may not be accurate always. Maintaining the record
is really a tedious task. Any internet user can use this existing website to search
for any kind of products, select particular products from a wide range of
products. Once they make of their mind to purchase any particular thing they
can place an order and make a payment throw various available payment option.

2.2. Need for the New System:

Online Gallery is a specific requirement of the client that integrates the buying
and selling services specifically to their customers. Need for the new system is
due to major drawbacks of existing system. Reports can be generated at any time
within few seconds, so that manual labour is not required, and also analysis can
be performed much more frequently which helps in taking decision.
The details regarding all users, products can also be maintained as their
information is very helpful and sometimes becomes a critical requirement.
Allows user to get registered from their places and transact for the required
product. To overcome these problems in existing system we develop “Online
Gallery”. The Online Gallery project needs to create the shopping cart
Page |6

system to organize the products record and the other information about the
customers. How customers can buy products from website can be recognized
from their username and password.

2.3. Project Overview

The Online Gallery project needs to create the shopping cart system to
organize the products record and the other information about the customers.
How customers can buy products from website can be recognized from their
username and password.

2.4. Purpose
Simple systems allow the offline administration of products and categories.
The shop is then generated as HTML files and graphics that can be uploaded
to a webspace. These systems do not use an online database.
A high end solution can be bought or rented as a standalone program or as an
addition to an enterprise resource planning program. It is usually installed on
the company's own webserver and may integrate into the existing supply
chain so that ordering, payment, delivery, accounting and warehousing can be
automated to a large extent. Other solutions allow the user to register and
create an online shop on a portal that hosts multiple shops at the same time.
Open source shopping cart packages include advanced platforms such as
Interchange, and off the shelf solutions as Avactis, Satchmo, osCommerce,
Magento, Zen Cart, Virtual Mart, Batavi and PrestaShop.
Commercial systems can also be tailored to ones needs so that the shop does
not have to be created from scratch. By using a framework already existing,
software modules for different functionalities required by a web shop can be
adapted and combined.

The system after careful analysis has been identified to be presented with the
following modules and roles. The modules involved are:
3.1. Administrator
3.2. Users

3.1. Administrator
The administrator is the super user of this application. Only admin have
access into this admin page. Admin may be the owner of the shop. The
administrator has all the information about all the users and about all
products. This module is divided into different sub-modules.
1. Manage Member
2. Manage Products
3. Manage Customer
4. Manage Orders

3.2. User:

Registration: A new user will have to register in the system by providing

essential details in order to view the products in the system. The admin must
accept a new user by unblocking him.
Login: A user must login with his user name and password to the system after
registration
View Products: User can view the list of products based on their names after
successful login. A detailed description of a particular product with product
name, products details, product image, price can be viewed by users.
Search Product: Users can search for a particular product in the list by name.

View Products: User can view the list of products based on their names after
successful login. A detailed description of a particular product with product
name, products details, product image, price can be viewed by users.
Add to cart: The user can add the desired product into his cart by clicking add
to cart option on the product. He can view his cart by clicking on the cart button.
All products added by cart can be viewed in the cart. User can remove an item
from the cart by clicking remove

CHAPTER-5
FUTURE SCOPE & CONCLUSION

5.1. Future Scope

Online stores are usually available 24 hours a day, and many consumers have
Internet access both at work and at home.
Other establishments such as internet cafes and schools provide access as well.
A visit to a conventional retail store requires travel and must take place during
business hours.
Searching or browsing an online catalog can be faster than browsing the aisles
of a physical store.
One can avoid crowded malls resulting in long lines, and no parking. Consumers
with dial-up Internet connections rather than broadband have much longer load
times for content-rich web sites and have a considerably slower online shopping
experience.
Some consumers prefer interacting with people rather than computers because
they find computers hard to use.
Not all online retailers have succeeded in making their sites easy to use or
reliable. On the other hand, a majority of stores have made it easy to find the
style one is looking for, as well as the price range that is acceptable making the
shopping experience quick and efficient.
The internet has made shopping an almost effortless task.

5.2. CONCLUSION

The project entitled Online Gallery was completed successfully. The system
has been developed with much care and free of errors and at the same time it
is efficient and less time consuming. The purpose of this project was to
develop a web application and an android application for purchasing items
from a shop. This project helped us in gaining valuable information and
practical knowledge on several topics like designing web pages using asp.net
& css, usage of responsive templates, designing of html applications, and
management of database using ms sql . The entire system is secured. Also the
project helped us understanding about the development phases of a project
and software development life cycle. We learned how to test different
features of a project. This project has given us great satisfaction in having
designed an application which can be implemented to any nearby shops or
branded shops selling various kinds of products by simple modifications.
There is a scope for further development in our project to a great extend. A
number of features can be added to this system in future like providing
moderator more control over products so that each moderator can maintain
their own products. Another feature we wished to implement was providing
classes for customers so that different offers can be given to each class.
System may keep track of history of purchases of each customer and provide
suggestions based on their history. These features could have implemented
unless the time did not limited us.
