GLOSSARY OF TECHNICAL TERMS
CONTROL SYSTEM
The control system, consisting of the Control Console,
Dimmer Bank and Dimmers and Patch Panei is designed to
meet the requirements likely to be placed on a studio of this
size. This system, moreover, has the capability for further
sophistication to meet future requirements. The 24 Channel
lMicro Q Control Console for example. is a flexible,
sophisticated rnodular system which has the capability for a
pluq-in Memory Control Module should future use of this
studio require it. The Dimmer Bank, housing 24 plug-in
dimmer modules and 3 non dims provides adequate
potentialto control any normal load requirements placed on
the facility. The Patch Panel provides a convenient and
flexible means of grouping outlets to dimmers as required.
DISTRIBUTION EOUIPMENT
The distribution system of this
package consists of connector
strips and plug-in boxes which
have been located to provide
the flexibility in positioning and
circuiting lights required to en-
sure the hlghest quality lighting
design and control.
KEY AND BACK LIGHTS
Key and Back Lights provide the
main source of illumination on
the subject from the front, side
and rear. The most important
lighting fixtures ln the studio,
they must provlde maximum
variety in beam shape and size
and be easily adjusted to rneet
different lighting req urrements.
Because the characteristics of
Fresnel spotlights provide this variety, Key and Back Lights
are always Fresnels. We have scheduled a number of
Quartzcolor 6", 10" and 12" Fresnels manufactured by laniro
for this studio. These units have been especially desig ned for
studio use and are the most effic ent and flexible Fresnel
spotlights on the market. As with all lights scheduled in this
package, each Fresnel is fully equipped with accessories
and a lamp.
BASE AND FILL LIGHTS
Base and Fill Lights, common y
referred to as "scoops ' provide a
soft-edged fjeld of light which s
used to provide basic illu-
minat on of the subject, to fill in
the areas not h ghlighted by the
key light, to illuminate the back-
ground and to soften shadows
caused by key liqhts.
CYCLORAMA LIGHTS
Cyclorama Llghts are designed
to create a smooth lighting effect
on a backdrop or cyclorama.
When individually circuited with
multiple units, provided with
color media and controlled by
dimmers, Cyclorama Lights can
provrde many possible tjnts and
shades through effective color
mixing thus giving subtle varia-
tions in the overall lighting design of any set. We have
scheduled a series of one and three unit laniro Quartzcolor
Cyclorama Lights. These lights, when spaced and mounted
as shown on the isometric drawing, will provide an even,
smooth iJlumination of the cyclorarna.
LEKOLITES.s]
Lekolites, or Pattern Projectors,

the lighting of a subject or

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT
LIGHT LIFIS provide the means to lower lights below the
normal grid height thus providing added flexibility in posi-
tron and ang le.
EXTENSION CABLES provide power at special instrument
locations or when units are hung below the g rid on light lifts.
This package is not intended to represent an absolute
maximum or minimum amount of equiprnent required. lt is a
proposal based on our experience for a typical 40' x 60'
studio. Naturally, each rndividual studio has its own unique
features which may require unique responses. Strand
Century has developed a series ot these packages so you
can find one which most closely fits your needs. To receive
