AAWC Lesson Reflection (Completed after EVERY lesson taught)
Select (S):

Identify a lesson and what standards are you addressing:

KLCP2: understand that print and pictures convey meaning by telling a story from a text or a picture

Students will be able to: Identify and answer CROWD Question that teacher asked while she reads the
story.

The teacher will read Ohoud’s Garden story.

Describe (D):

Who is the lesson for? The lesson is to read a story and recode it, it’s for girl his names in Mona her age is
8 she is I grade 5.

Where did the lesson take place? The lesson is in home in a room fit environment to recorded a lesson for
the kid.

What were you trying to achieve in your lesson? In my lesson, I read a story that I written for a
kid how’s 8 years old studding in grade 5, while I read the story I used CROWD strategy to ask
some question for the kind such as: : recall, the teacher will ask the student a question and the
student has to answer Example: “why Asma didn’t slept well?”
O: open-Ended, an open-ended Question is having no fixed answer: an open-ended question, for
Example the teacher will ask the student why you think Ohoud love science subject?
Wh\ Question, the teacher will ask the student a Wh question, for Example why you think Ohoud should
listen to her mom advice and sleep early at the night?
Distance, the distance is that the teacher tells the student the advice and the benefit of the story,
 you must listen to your mom advice and sleep early to be active at the morning.
 The plant is like the human we must feed it by give water daily
I think if I did my lesson for more than 2 student the lesson will be more fun and interesting and if I do a
lesson with a lot of children’s I can give them a some of those question and let them turn and talk and
discus the answers together, in this way they will bale to share their ideas together and listen to
another’s answers.
The question I asked the child it is too easy in next time I will to try to give more complex question to let
the child use more critical thinking, also in next time I will give the student to read for me the story and I
will record her reading to let her listen for it, this might improve the child reading, to see the level of the
child and let her to tell me what did she understand from the story and what she doesn’t understand and
feel confused of, then I will read the story for her.
Next time when I will have a slot of children in this lesson I will make groups of two, each on will read the
story and make up question by using CROWD strategy the same I did.

 What did the students do?

Student will response and answer the question posed.
Student will listen to the story advice and tell the teacher what the favorite colour of flower

The student will answer the Questions posed to her such as:
1. What the most part did you enjoyed in the story and why?
2. Can you tell me you like the story or not?
3. Did you like the science subject like same Ohoud or not?

The student will retell the story in her way

I think while I asked the kid what is your favorite part in the story is boring question kind of, to make it
more fun to the child next time when I will teach this lesson I will let the student to imagine and draw to
most part they liked in the story and let them try and write the reason why this part in best part in the
story, by using only some easy word they know such as “amazing, love, like” and this will let the children
to be more creative.

Analyze (A):

Why do you think the students responded the way that they did? The student was very quiet because she
been in school and the teacher read a story for them and ask them some Questions, and the student was
very enjoyable while I read the story because she like when someone to read a story for her and when I
finish read the story she told me that the like the story and she enjoy seeing the picture because its fully
of colours.

Also, one reason let the student be polite, I notice some children when we make a recording video or
recording voice they are shy that why they don’t speak too much while the teacher teaches a lesson or
read a story.

Also, I been read for the student the story with voice reaction because this make the children focus more
into the story and listen to the end.

How well did your teaching relate to the students’ prior understanding? CROWD strategies that the student
been learn about it “teacher ask question for student while she read it “. The student in grade 3 they been
learned about answering question while the teacher read a story for them, and I sked kid a question while I
read the story for them. Also, the whole idea of Ohoud’s garden story it’s all about science and what the plant
need to grow up, how we take care of the plant, in grade 3 they been learned about the plant also they know
the colours they learned it in English. In this way, I rated my story to prior understanding to make my lesson a
story suitable for their Age. “grade 3 students”

How well did you engage the students? I try to engage the child while I read the story for her to make
the lesson more fun in this way the child while not feel boring while read the story.

I make my story fully of colours because the children like to see more colour and also I used the story
characters in their age * 8 years old” to make the story more interesting for them, because the child like
to know stories including characters in their ages.

While I read the story to kid I make a voice reaction to let the student be more focus and feel fun while I
read it for her, in this way I engage the student to me.

Also, I asked the kid some question and let she look at the picture, not only tell the story non-stop in this
way the student will fell boring, in next time I will try to make a video for my story to show it for the
student when I finish read it this way will be more fun for the student.

Appraise (A):

Explain the nature of the experience from the students’ perspective

Did your lesson meet your teaching goals? Yes, my lesson meets my personal goal, because I planned for
my lesson before I teach it for a child, also I practise my lesson before I record it this my lesson to be has
more self-confident and I didn’t feel confused while I teach it. And my personal goal was “I am working in
student management” I let the student to be polite by engage her and make a voice reaction while I read
the story and give some Questions.

Transform (T):

How might you enhance student learning of this lesson in the future? The students will learn different
thinks in this story such as, what is the part of the flowers, what the flowers need to grow up and the life
cycle of the flowers also they will learn different colours of the flowers

They will learn to answer CROWD questions while the teacher asks them.

What are the implications for your professional practice? This helps me in my future career to be more
confident when I read a story for the student and use more CROWD strategy for the student

This helps me to practise me English language also

This helps me to learn how to let the student be more engage while I read a story for the and make the
story more fun “voice reaction, asking question and let the student see the picture in the story and think
what is about, they like the story or not? “
