Guide: Perform a Lab Exercise

Introduction

In this guide, we will demonstrate the steps required to perform Palo Alto Networks
Cybersecurity Gateway and Essentials labs using the NDG Online platform through your
Coursera account.

NDG Online is a platform for online learning, aimed at developing IT

professionals. The content available through NDG Online features
course material, lab exercises and assessments. The content
implements a "practice as you read" approach to learning.

Hands-on access to lab exercises through NDG Online is powered by

NETLAB+, the remote access solution by NDG that enables learners to
complete lab exercises anytime, anywhere.

In order to access the NDG Online platform, you must enroll and
subscribe to the NDG Online lab service, by completing the steps
outlined in Week 2, Module 1 - Activities and Deliverables, Lab:
Connecting with NDG.

1 Select a Lab Exercise and Connect to NDG Online

You will access the NDG Online Portal through your Coursera account in order to
perform the Palo Alto Networks Academy Cybersecurity Gateway and Essentials labs.

If you have just completed the Lab: Connecting with NDG and are
already connected to the NDG Online platform, you may skip this
section and proceed to the next section, Explore the Tabbed Sections of
the Lab Access Interface.

1. For this example we will select a lab from the Palo Alto Networks Cybersecurity
Gateway I course, Week 3, Module 2 - Activities and Deliverables, NDG
Networking Labs - TCP and Virtual Routing.

2. To access the NDG Online platform, select the Open Tool button.

NDG Logo briefly displayed on the screen while the NDG Online system connects
to the resources needed for the lab environment. Wait for the connection to
complete, pod initialization will begin shortly.

4. You may see the Initializing POD indicator displayed on the page as your lab
session begins. This indicates the NDG Online system is in the process of
initializing the devices in the pod to prepare them for use. Allow the initialization
to proceed. The lab access interface will display when initialization is complete.

2 Explore the Tabbed Sections of the Lab Access Interface

The lab access interface is divided into several tabbed sections. The Topology, Content
and Status tabs provide access to NDG Online functions. Additional tabs provide access
to the devices in the topology.

As you perform different actions throughout your lab session in any of the tabbed
sections, you will see Lab Notifications displayed in the right corner, below the Time
Remaining Indicator. Most messages are set to display only briefly.
