Creating List of Banks with Selected Variables

FitchConnect Overview

Fitch Connect provides financials and ratings on thousands of banking and financial institutions globally.

Standardized financial data on over 33,000 private and public banks across 200 countries,

 Up to 10 years of history
 Each bank statement incudes up to 550 data points per bank, 50 pre-calculated ratios and access to the
original source filing
 Annual and interim financial data for the largest 3,200 banks are available within 48 hours of filing

Reports include:

 Ratings Reports
 Special Reports & Outlooks
 Macro Risks & Topical Reports

Data Definitions

You can use the Find Data Definitions box at the bottom of the page to see lists of terminology used by Fitch.

View Fitch Ratings Definitions will allow you to link to a PDF document explaining the different ratings and rating scales used by
Fitch.

Open any web browser and go to

Login with the credentials provided by


the KMC.

After logged in, at the top menu, click
on “Search” and select “Entities”.

Choose any of the criteria from the


menu on the left-handside. Criteria can
be expanded to locate more specific
terms.

i.e.: Look for information on Islamic


Banks in Malaysia

From Geography select Malaysia

From Sector select “Banks” then
select “Islamic Banks” from the list

Or, type in you criteria in the text bar

“Malaysia”, ”Islamic Banks

The results of the banks will be


displayed on the bottom of the screen

Select the Entity Names that you are
interested in by ticking the box (es).

Next click “Create Portfolio”.

Click on the Drop Down menu and


choose “Create New Portfolio”.

6. Assign a name for the Portfolion and


click “Submit & View“.

To add the variables, click on “Edit”
and select “Create Custom View”

Give the view a name (i.e. “ratio”) and


select or key in you variables and click
“Submit”

i.e. “Ratio”, “Total Asset”, “Non-


Performing Loan (NPL)”, “Liabilities”,
“ROA”, etc.

You can use the icon menu to do the

In the Multiple Period options, you


can choose the frequency by:
 Quarterly
 Interim
 Annual

Choose the desired years and click

It will automatically download the data
in excel. Click “save” and save the file
in your desktop/folder.

Open the Excel file.

(On the left is the banks name. On the


horizontal left is the variables.)
