Introduction to Ports
The contents of this section:
z Serial number
Slot: Indicates slots on the device; the serial number starts from 0. If
there is a fixed port, the slot number 0 is reserved for the fixed port. The
serial number of the service slot starts from 1; the serial number of the
control card is irrelevant with that of the service slot.
Sub-Slot: Indicates sub-slots which exist only on rack devices; the serial
number starts from 0. If there is a fixed port, the slot number 0 is
reserved for the fixed port.
Port: Indicates physical ports on the device or the card; the serial number
of the fixed port on each device, card and sub-card starts from 0.

shutdown
This is command is used to configure the management status of the
port/aggregation group. After one port is disabled, it does not send or
receive any frame. Therefore, it does not have any function. The port
status includes UP and DOWN. When one port is disabled, its status must
be DOWN.
Disable one port, use the command. Otherwise, use the no format.
When the aggregation group is closed, all member ports in the group are
closed. When the aggregation group is enabled, you can shutdown/no
shutdown the member ports individually.
shutdown
no shutdown
Note
Even a port is no shutdown; its status may not be up. The status also
depends on other situations, for instance, the network cable is not inserted
or the port is closed temporarily.
Description
For memorizing easily, you can configure the description information for a
port. For instance, a port is allocated to company A, and you can configure
its description information as “company A”. Description information
consists of up to 240 characters and space can be input among characters.
description string
no description
Command Description
string The character string of the description information of a
port
duplex
This command is used to configure duplex parameter on one port.
duplex {auto|full|half}
Command Description
Auto The duplex status of a port depends on the auto
negotiation of the local port and the peer port.
Full The port can send and receive packets at the same time.
half The port can only send packets or receive packets at one
moment.
speed
This command is used to configure the rate of one port.
speed {10|100|1000|10000|auto}
Command Description
The speed of a port depends on the auto negotiation of
auto
the local port and the peer port.
10 The port rate is 10M.
100 The port rate is 100M.
1000 The port rate is 1000M.
10000 The port rate is 10G
Note
1. When the duplex speeds at two sides are different, the port may
become up. When PHY receives signals sent from the opposite end in
the case of 10 non-auto negotiation, it does not check whether the
codes and rates are consistent and then starts the port. The processing
is implemented by the chip.
2. The speed duplex mode supported by the port is subject to the card
and port type. When the configured capability is not supported by the
port, the configuration fails and "not support" is prompted.
storm control
This command is used to restrict the size of the broadcast flow permitted
to pass on an Ethernet port. When the broadcast flow on the port exceeds
the value configured by the user, the system discards the packets which
exceed the limitation of the broadcast flow. In this way, the proportion of
the broadcast flow can be reduced to the limited range and the normal
operation of network services is ensured.
You can configure storm control for pps(packets per second) and bps(bits
per second).
After the configuration, the status of the storm control can be displayed
via show storm-control [portlist].
storm-control action
This command is used to configure the action executed after storm
suppression happens, that is, disable the port pr send TRAP alarm. To
send TRAP, first enable snmp service and enable the corresponding switch.
After the configuration, the status of the storm control action can be
displayed via show storm-control [portlist].
load-interval
The command is used to configure the interval of printing traffic statistics.
load-interval <second>
Syntax Description
Load-interval second Set the interval of printing the traffic statistics as second
The value range of second is 30-600 and the command only supports 3900.
Note
The chip does not support measuring the number of the unknown unicast
packets, so the control action of the unicast storm control in the pps mode
does not take effect, that is, configure pps unknown unicast storm. If the
storm action is shutdown port or trap, the storm control can take effect,
but the port does not have the shutdown or trap action.
flow control
This command is used to configure the flow control of the port.
flowcontrol {on|off}
Command Description
on Enable flow control
off Disable flow control
mdix
This command is used to configure the mode of the port sending signals.
Command Description
normal Line 1 and 2 are used to send signals; line 3 and 6 are
used to receive signals
cross Line 1 and 2 are used to receive signals; line 3 and 6 are
used to send signals
auto Select automatically between normal and cross
Whether a port can be UP is related with the mdix setting of the two
parties. If both are normal mode or cross mode, use the crossover
network cable. If the mdix mode of one party is set as normal and the
other is cross, use the common network cables. When auto mode is
configured, use common network cable or crossover network cable.
mtu
This command is used to configure MTU.
mtu num
Syntax Description
num Configure the port MTU. For the frames received at the port
or sent from the port, if the length exceeds the configured
MTU, they will be discarded. The unit for configuration is
byte. It is required that the configured value must be a
multiple of 4 bytes. If the value is not, it is decreased to a
multiple of 4 for configuration. For instance, the configured
valued is 1501 types, it is adjusted to 1500 types by the
system.
Link-delay
This command is used to configure whether the link change event (UP,
DOWN) is reported with delay and the time of the delay report.
link-delay <second>
Command Description
The unit is second, which means the report delay after
second
link event is checked. The value range is 2-10s.
Default status: 0s, that is, report the link event immediately.
loopback
Loop check is used to check link. As a test command, it doesn’t save script.
loopback {external|internal}
Syntax Description
internal Start internal loopback test
external Start the external loopback test
When configure a link as down, both the internal loop and the external
loop cannot be checked.
hol-blocking
Use the command to enable or disable HOL blocking of the port.
hol-blocking {enable|disable}
Syntax Description
enable Enable the HOL blocking function of the port
disable Disable the HOL blocking function of the port
port-mode
Set the working mode of the 10G port
port-mode {lan|wan}
Syntax Description
lan Configure the 10G port to work in LAN mode
wan Configure the 10G port to work in WAN mode
media-type
Configure the media type of the port.
media-type {auto|copper|fiber}
Syntax Description
auto The port automatically checks the cable and determines the
media type.
copper Configure the media type to copper.
fiber Configure the media type to fibber.
fiber-to-copper Configure as fiber to copper mode
The combo port of the switch can use copper or fiber. Automatic
identification of copper or fiber should be supported by specific PHY, but
currently, it does not support.
Note
The command is only applicable to the line card that supports fiber/copper
switching.
Link-flap
When the times of the port becoming UP exceeds a certain times, it is
regarded that the link is unstable and the link flap event happens. The
command is used to modify the link flap parameter as desired.
Default status: By default, if the port becomes up for five times within
10s, it is regarded that link-flap happens to the port.
port-type
This command is used to configure the UNI/NNI attribute of the port.
Cancel the UNI/NNI attribute, use the no format.
port-type {uni|nni}
Syntax Description
nni Configure the port as nni attribute
uni Configure the port as uni attribute
Each physical port of a switch has UNI/NNI attribute. By default, all ports
are configured as NNI ports. You can also change the UNI/NNI attribute of
each port via configuration.
By default, UNI ports are shutdown, and cannot communicate with each
other. But communication can be performed normally between UNI ports
and NNI ports and also between NNI and NNI ports. You can also enable
some UNI ports to communicate with each other via configuration.
cable-diagnostics
The command is used to execute the auto check for the cable when the
port is shut down in the system, checking the status and length of the
cable connecting the port and sending the check result to the LOG server
in log, but it is not suitable for the fiber port.
no cable-diagnostics
Syntax Description
0 The port number starts from 0.
1 The port number starts from 1.
Note
After modifying the port number rule, you need to save the configuration
and restart the device.
Command Description
show { port [portlist] | Display basic information of a port/aggregation group
link-aggregation The displayed information includes description information,
[aggr_id] } link status, rate, duplex, and UNI type.
show port [portlist] To monitor the statistics information of the port
statistics
When the port is err-disabled owing to check of certain errors, the status
is Enable, and the Link is Down (Err-disabled). For the err-disabled cause,
you can run the show port x/x status err-disabled.
Pvid : 400
