Atlas of Functional Neuroanatomy
CD-ROM
Dr. Walter J. Hendelman
Understanding the central nervous system requires visualizing its functional components
– nuclei and pathways. The three-dimensional presentation of images is improved by
computer viewing and color adds substantially to this visual enhancement.

All illustrations in the book are on this CD, augmented by color wherever that seems
appropriate. The colors used in the pathways and cross sections are functionally coded
and the user is advised to consult the Color Key.

GUIDE TO NEUROANATOMY PROGRAM

Adobe Acrobat reader is a (free) file format that allows files (documents and
photographs) saved in a certain way to be ‘read’ by computers.

The following is a quick guide to its use on this CD.

Those wishing more information should go to the “Adobe Acrobat Reader

Guide”. Select Help on the Menu bar once Acrobat is open.

• Click on the figure number in the table of contents to view the

illustration.

• If needed, you may adjust illustration to fill the screen by maximizing,

or drag on lower right corner to the desired size.

• To view any part at higher magnification: click on the magnifying

glass icon on the toolbar. Place it over the area and click to
increase the magnification. To return to the previous magnification:
click on the back arrow .

• To move image about: click on hand icon on the toolbar, place it

over the desired area and move image about with the cursor.

• For each illustration there are related figures. Click on the figure
number to view the related figures. Use the back arrow to return to the
primary illustration that is being studied.

• Click on table of contents button to return to the table of

contents. NOTE: Table of Contents can be viewed by either scrolling
or using <page 1 of...> at bottom of screen.

• COLOR KEY - For certain figures: each color used in full color
illustrations (e.g., brainstem series, figs. 64 to 71) represents a
function (e.g., motor, sensory} – click on the color key button to view
.

• To end the session, click on File and go to Exit.
