General Instructions: Research on Kinds of Obligations based on Arts. 1179 to 1230 of the New Civil
Code (NCC) and on Extinguishment of Obligations based on Arts. 1231 to 1304 of the NCC, and
answer the following in your own handwriting. Follow the format above in writing your name and other
details. Write your answers in yellow pad or clean bond paper that are available in your home. Make
your handwriting legible and readable. Take a photo of your answers and send to my personal
messenger, not in the GC. No sharing of answers. Deductions would be given to those sharer and
recipient of answers. I will be personally checking your answers and I will compare answers.
Remember the letter C in the alphabet of our classroom house rules- NO CHEATING. Ten points
each item.
ASSIGNMENT (40%)
1. Identify, define and give an example of each of the primary classifications of obligation.
2. What are impossible conditions? Give 2 examples of impossible conditions in an obligation.
3. What are the differences between a condition and a period?
4. What is obligation ex die and obligation in diem? Give examples each.

PROJECT (60%)
5. What is the difference between solidary debtor and guarantor?
6. State your understanding of the phrase: “The indivisibility of the obligation does not necessarily
give rise to solidarity of obligation,” based on Art. 1210, NCC.
7. State the difference between solidarity of obligation and surety.
8. What is obligation with a penal clause? Give an example.
9. List down and identify the manner by which obligations are extinguished.
10. Define dacion en pago. Give example.
