WEBER
SHANDWICK
WE SOLVE
Furlough Notice
Dear
In light of the unexpected Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, Weber Shandwick (the “Company’) must
make certain changes to address the impact on our business.
Unfortunately, the present circumstances require the suspension of your job duties for weeks, which
may be shortened or extended based on business needs. Although we are not certain of the ultimate
duration, we will connect with you prior to the end of this initial period to discuss next steps. During the
Furlough Period, you will be deemed an inactive employee, and nothing herein alters the ‘at will” nature
of your employment with the Company.
Beginning May 18, 2020 and until further notice (the “Furlough Period”), you should not report
to work and you should not perform any work on behalf of the Company (this includes performing work
by phone, email or otherwise). During the Furlough Period, you will not have access to your Company-
issued email account or phone number, nor will you be permitted to access the Company's offices.
Therefore, please ensure that your local human resource representative has your personal email and/or
phone number on file.
During the Furlough Period, you will not receive any compensation (including, without limitation, your
base salary), and you will not accrue or be eligible for PTO or paid sick leave. For a period up to 2
months, your medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance will remain active. During this period, you
will be responsible for the employee portion of coverage, to be repaid upon your return to active
status. After the 2-month period, you may elect to extend your coverage as provided by the
Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985, as amended, and/or applicable state law
(collectively “COBRA"), and subject to your COBRA eligibility.
During the Furlough Period you may choose to use any accrued and unused 2020 PTO. In addition, you
may be eligible for unemployment insurance benefits during the Furlough Period.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding during this challenging time. Please respond
electronically to acknowledge your receipt of this letter. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you
have any questions.
Sincerely,
Maureen Bratton
