3. Rationale
Reading is an essential tool in every learning process, academic as much as
cultural and social. So, some of the main goals in the Primary Education must be
awakening the reading interest, creating a reading habit and achieving competent
readers.
The Department of Education supports Ever Child a Reader Program
(ECARP) which aims to make every Filipino learner a reader at his/her own level. It
is designed to equip elementary pupils with strategic reading and writing skills to
make them independent young readers and writers. It also provides a yea-r-long
training for teachers to make them multi-literate and independent problem solvers.
So that, Evangelista Elementary School are providing extra instructional time
to help children achieve levels of literacy that will enable them to be successful
through their school career and beyond.
With this project (Project 4MR), Evangelista Elementary School is expected
that children discover the pleasure of reading by means of drawing closer to reading
in a voluntary way. In this sense, activities proposed in this project will be bent on
promoting the reading and the pleasure for reading.
On the other hand, are allow building Parent Teacher relationships and
essential for establishing school-family partnership that constitutes the foundation for
all other forms of family involvement in education.
4. Objectives
Project 4MR aims to establish positive perspective towards reading. It is
hoped that it can create a turning point in school where pupils will be able to develop
effective reading skills and enjoy reading for different purposes. The ultimate goal of
this project are:
