LISTENING LESSON PLAN

Time: 15 minutes
Level: Intermediate
Gender: F/M
Age: 15-16
Materials: Pictures/ Handouts
Interaction: Ss/Ss – T/Ss
Assumptions: Ss are able to listen to the records like this.
Anticipated Problems: None.

OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, the students
1) will have improved their listening skills by hearing a speech about what people can do
and cannot do in their daily lives.

2) will have had better understanding for the listening a text.

PRE-LISTENING

Time : 2 min.
Materials : Picture
Interaction: T/Ss-Ss/Ss
What the students do : students share their experiences about the pictures shown by the
teacher.

Grouping : Whole Class


Aims:
- To motivate the students to get to the topic.
- To give students a reason for listening.
- To activate their background information.
- To draw students’ attention to the topic.
STEPS
1) The teacher sticks some pictures on the board. There are the pictures of a plug, a shelf
and a car repair.
2) The teacher asks if they can repair their cars, plugs or shelves. If not she wants to
know how they handle these problems.

3) The teacher collects the answers.

WHILE LISTENING
Time : 10 min. (5 min. for each session)
Materials : Handouts - Pictures
Interaction: T/Ss

What the students do : Ss are asked to understand the listening text in detail at the end of the
session.

Grouping : T/S

• First Listening
Aims:
- To get students to understand the conversation in general.
- To get students to have the main idea about the text.

STEPS
1) The teacher gives hand-outs to students.
2) The students are asked to write what the people in the recording talking about.
3) Students write what they understand to their worksheets.
4) The teacher checks the answers.

• Second Listening
Aims:
- To get students have more specific information about the text.
- To get them understand the text in detail.

STEPS
1) The teacher wants students to read the sentences which contain some mistakes.
2) After students look at the sentences, they listen to the text again to correct the
mistakes.
3) Then students answer the questions.
4) Then the teacher checks their answers.

POST LISTENING
Time : 3 min.
Materials : Music
Interaction: Ss/Ss – T/Ss
What the students do : students are given a homework. They will go home and ask their
mothers, fathers, or neighbors if they can handle such situations. They will make an interview
with them and they will record the conversation so that they will play the recording in the
class and they will have something to listen in the class again.
Grouping : Individual

Aims :
- To improve their speaking skills with the help of creativity.

STEPS
1) Students will go home and interview with somebody.
2) They will record the conversation.
3) They will bring the recording to the lesson.
4) They will listen to the iterviews.
