INFORMATIVE SPEECH TEMPLATE

This exercise requires you to provide an outline for your informative speech by filling in the
following template.

The outline of your speech should include:


● introduction,
● description and analysis of chart(s) and/or graph(s),
● Conclusion and recommendation.

In this exercise, you need to choose at least one chart and/or graph related to your topic. Describe
the important data (facts and figures) and the salient features of the data from the chosen chart(s)
and/or graph(s). You are also required to choose at least one article related to your topic. Select
relevant information from the chosen article(s) to provide some supporting information for the data.

Introduction
Introduce topic Factors Related to Smoking Habits of Male Adolescent
Credibility I am interested in this topic and have done some research on it.
Background of topic According to the cross-sectional study that was conducted to identify

the factors related to smoking habits of adolescent among

secondary school boys in Kelantan.

Description of data 1. This bar chart show the reason for smoking among smokers
and the reason for not smoking among not smokers.
(Chart 1)
2. The major reason for initiation of smoking is peer friends
which is 93 compare with the normal behavior of man which
is 45.
3. The strongest reason among non-smokers for not smoking is
because of religion which is 270 compare with waste of
money and loss of concentration which are 150.
Analysis of data 4. Basically, peer friends are divided into two types which are

(Chart 1) having a close friends who smoked and having close friends

who encouraged to smoke.


5. Religious education is one of the most effective way to

educate students
Description of data 1. The pie chart shows the sources of knowledge about the

(Chart 2) hazards of smoking


2. The highest of sources is Media.
3. The second highest of sources is Medical Personnel followed

by parents and teachers.


Analysis of data 4. Media contributed 72.06%, Medical Personnel contributed

(Chart 2) 49.89%, Parents contributed 39.91%, Teachers contributed

39.91% and others contributed 33.04%.
5. The hazard of smoking can make people know more about

the negatives effect of tobacco.


Conclusion
Conclusion The bar chart shows the reason of smoking among smokers and

non-smokers. The pie chart show the sources of knowledge about

the hazards of smoking.


Recommendation The Government must do something in order to reduce the number

of smokers in Malaysia.
