The purpose of this course is to study fundamentals of numerical and computational methods

Differential Equations: Euler’s Method, RK Method, Variable multistep methods, Stability;
Course Approximation Theory: Orthogonal polynomial and Least Squares Approximation; Matlab /
Contents Mathcad basics; Applications of Matlab / Mathcad to solve following problems: Solutions of
equations of one variable, Numerical differentiation, Numerical Integration, Solution of
linear system of equations using direct and iterative techniques, Solution of nonlinear system
of equations.

In addendum to Institute’s policy following rules will be strictly adhered to:


1. Attendance: Students are expected to attend course sessions. In case of any absence,
students are responsible to make up for the course covered in the missed session.
Attendance profile is consistently compiled and updated at the department and it is
mandatory to meet the minimum requirements of 80% to qualify for appearance in the
final examination.
2. Class Behavior: Cell phones must be turned off when the student enters the classroom.
Rules and Disruption of class by a cell phone may lead to expulsion from the class.

acknowledging the source, the submission of a paper, laboratory report, project, or class
assignment (any portion of such) prepared by another person, or incorrect paraphrasing.
