ZTE UTRAN UR12 Feature List
1 - General Description
ZTE UTRAN released features are grouped into basic features and optional features.
· Basic Features
Generally, all of basic features are provided to operator as a whole software package. Except transmission features, basic package includes
fundament functions for R99 UMTS network deployment. Once basic package are offered, all features in basic package are enabled. It means
basic features are put to use without hardware restriction and license restriction.
· Optional Features
Optional features including R99 enhanced features, transmission features, HSDPA features, HSUPA features, MBMS features and HSPA
evolution features.
There are nine optional functional packages. They are:
1. VoIP Package. Supporting VoIP service in UMTS network.

2. RAN Sharing Package. It includes RAN sharing with dedicated carrier, and operator specific resource, functions and QoS
configuration in RAN sharing.
3. ATM Package. It provides ATM transmission on Iu/Iur/Iub/Iu-BC interface.
4. IP Introduction Package. It provides IP transmission on Iu/Iur/Iub/Iu-BC interface.
5. HSDPA Introduction Package. It enables HSDPA commercialized in real network. The peak downlink data throughput of user is
3.6Mbps. And the maximum number of HSDPA user in a cell is 16.
6. HSUPA Introduction Package. It enables HSUPA commercialized in real network. The peak uplink data throughput of user is 2Mbps.
And the maximum number of HSUPA user in a cell is 16.
7. MBMS Introduction Package. With this package, 3GPP R6 MBMS can be deployed.
8. CPC Package. It includes all function related to CPC introducing in 3GPP R7.
9. Enhanced Cell FACH Package. It includes Enhanced Cell FACH introduced in 3GPP R7 and R8.
Each package is offered as a whole. Features belonging to a functional package are not allowed to be offered separately.
The availability of each package or feature (not in any package) is controled by a license or hardware. License means the feature or package
is not available until the corresponding permission is acquired. The license is a software license. Hardware means the feature or package is
available as long as corresponding hardware board is configured in ZTE UTRAN equipment.

2 - Basic Features of UR17

Table 2-1 lists features belonging to basic features package in release of UR17.
“Compatibility” columns indicate whether a feature is available for different ZTE UMTS products, i.e. V3 RNC, ZXUR9000 and Node B.
“Dependency” columns indicate whether a feature’s implementation is based on network element such as core network (CN), UE and BSC or
LTE.
For the column “CN” of “Dependency”, if a feature could not be applicable unless CN transfers related information to UTRAN, then “Yes” is
indicated. Otherwise “No” is indicated. For example, CN notes UTRAN whether ciphering is enabled via RANAP procedure “security mode
control”. So in the feature “ZWF21-01-005 Ciphering”, “Yes” is showed in the column “CN”.
Belonging to one of three cases below, “Yes” is indicated in the column “UE” of “Dependency”. Otherwise “No” is indicated.
1. A feature is applicable if UE capability information transferring to UTRAN shows it supports the feature.
2. A feature’s application depends on UE capability which does not be provided to UTRAN, such as “ZWF21-05-024 Video Call
Fallback to Speech” in Table 3-1 in sub clause 3 “Optional Feature List of ZTE UR17”.
3. In case of enhanced features for HSDPA, HSUPA and MBMS, some special capability is required except basic capability. This
capability may or may not inform to RNC.
If a feature is applicable only when network element (NE) of inter-RAT system also supports it, the inter-RAT NE is indicated in the column
“Other NE”. Otherwise “No” is indicated in the column “Other NE”.

3 - Optional Features of ZTE UR17

Table 3-1 lists features belonging to optional features in release of UR17. As for packages, only the name of each package is listed in Table
3-2. Each feature in a package is listed in sub Table 3-2 “Features of optional function packages”.
In Table 3-1, the column “Software” of “Dependency” indicates a feature is dependent on other features listed in the column. The column
“Hardware” of “Dependency” indicates a feature is dependent on specific hardware listed in the column. “@ZXWR RNC” and “@ZXUR9000”
or “@NodeB” in the column ““Hardware”” means the hardware board in RNCs or Node B respectively. A “+” between two kinds of hardware
board means they should be provided simultaneously. The meaning in the columns “CN”, “BSC” and ”UE” of “Dependency” are the same as
in the Table 2-1 (refer to sub clause 2 “Basic Feature List of ZTE UR17” ).
In Table 3-1, the column “Access Method” indicates how to active a feature. There are two kinds of activation methods, license and
hardware. (The meaning of license and hardware is described in sub clause 1 “General Description”).
"Optional Transmission Interfaces" part of Table 3-1 list all kinds of transmission interfaces supported by ZTE UTRAN products. Different
transmission interfaces may be configured by ZTE RNC and Node B to match different scenarioes of transmission network.
"Optional Synchronization Sources" part of Table 3-1 list all kinds of synchronization sources supported by ZTE UTRAN products. Different
synchronization sources may be configured by ZTE RNC and Node B. To improve stability of equipment’s clock, more than one
synchronization sources could be defined in ZTE RNC and Node B for redundency protection. Secondary synchronization sources could be
automatically activated if primary synchronization source is broken down.
Some optional features or functional packages are marked as "Validated without UE IOT", which means only internal validation is performed
using simulation equipments but inter-operability test has not been performed due to lack of supporting by real UE. So risk exists because
minor correction of software release may be needed after IOT process with UEs. Even though, those features or functional packages could
be commercially contracted in this release with ZTE's commitment of full delivery soon after such UEs are available.
