1.corona virus pregnancy tips

Corona COVID-19 threatens everyone, including pregnant mothers. Some research shows that pregnant
women also have a substantial risk of being infected with COVID-19, including with mild symptoms.

The Center for Research and Control and Prevention (CDC) notes that pregnant women are more
vulnerable to all types of respiratory infections, such as flu. This is partly because pregnancy changes the
body's immune system while also affecting the lungs and heart.

However, a number of recent studies have shown that the majority of pregnant women with Corona
virus infection (COVID-19) "only" have mild symptoms that are not even severe when compared to the
general population.

One of the researches about this was carried out by Priority Study from the University of California San
Francisco. The study involved about 30 pregnant women in China who were exposed to COVID-19.

The results showed relatively mild symptoms, that all women survived, they did not seem likely to have
severe illness, and there was no evidence of transmission to the baby during pregnancy.

Other research published by the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology in March 2020 revealed
that there was no concrete evidence that pregnant women were more susceptible to COVID-19 than
others.

Even if they get an infection, the researchers show that these pregnant women are unlikely to get
severe complications from diseases, such as pneumonia.

In a 2019 report, the World Health Organization (WHO) using a small sample of pregnant women with
COVID-19, showed that the majority of them did not have severe cases. Of the 147 women studied, 8
percent had severe COVID-19 and 1 percent was critical.

-Causes of Corona Virus

Until now there is no known cause of the Corona virus, but it is known that this virus is spread by
animals and is capable of transmitting from one species to another, including humans. It is known that
Corona virus originated from Wuhan City in China and appeared in December 2019.

-Danger of Corona Virus

Based on research, the danger of Corona virus can cause death. In fact, infected and cured patients will
experience permanent damage to the lungs and antibodies.

-Symptoms of Corona Virus

Corona virus appears with several different symptoms in the patient's body. However, in general, the
symptoms of the Corona virus are flu, fever, cough, to shortness of breath.

-Healing Corona Virus

Until now there has not been found a drug to treat the Corona virus. However, there have been
recorded some people who have recovered from the Corona virus after undergoing isolation and
hospitalization.

In Indonesia, for example, as of March 15, 2020, the government claims that 8 people have recovered
from the Corona virus. It was based on two specimens examinations not found the Corona virus in the
body.

A.Does a pregnant woman face a greater challenge than COVID-19?

So far, according to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, COVID-19 data do not
indicate that a pregnant woman has a higher risk of contracting the virus.

However, as we already know from the flu, they are at greater risk of contracting respiratory infections.
Pregnancy causes various changes in the body and results in a small amount of immune disorder which
can cause infection to cause more pain, injury and damage.

B.Can a mother with COVID-19 transmit the virus to her baby in the womb?

This related data is growing rapidly. Two papers published on March 26 found corona virus antibodies in
3 newborns from mothers with COVID-19. This could indicate that they were exposed to the virus in the
womb, even though the virus itself was not detected in umbilical cord blood and researchers have
investigated what type of test was used.
Researchers in previous studies did not find evidence of COVID-19 in amniotic fluid or umbilical cord
blood in six other babies born to infected women. While this research paper only covers a small number
of cases, the lack of vertical transmission - from mother to child in the womb - is consistent with what
has been seen with other respiratory viral diseases in pregnancy, including influenza.

There are several reports of newborns that are only a few days old but have been infected. However, in
such cases, it is believed that the mother or family member transmits the infection to the baby through
close contact after giving birth. This virus can be transmitted through coughing or sneezing which can
spread droplets to newborn babies.

Know the estimated day of birth (HPL)

Of course when pregnant, what is expected is the day of birth. Now, by knowing the age of your fetus,
then the estimated age of birth can be predicted.

Preparing baby's needs

Another benefit of knowing the age of the fetus is that it can properly prepare the baby's needs. The
point is precisely that you know when to prepare the needs of the baby to be born. Do not prepare the
baby's needs too quickly or suddenly.

A.Calendar count (Naegele formula)

calculate your gestational age using this method, you must first know your menstrual cycle. This is
because counting using this method is usually used in women with regular menstrual cycles such as
every 28 days or 30 days. The first thing you need to do is find out the first day of your last menstruation
or commonly abbreviated with HPHT

B.Uterine Fundus System

The uterine fundus is the top of the uterus. The top of the uterus will rise as the fetus develops.
