d) Eating habits in college
 Read the following paragraphs about university students and their eating habits.

David, 20 years old, England.

I usually go to the supermarket four times a week. It


isn’t a big supermarket, but it has everything you
need and it is close to my university. I really like
going there, because I can buy whatever I need
during the week. I frequently buy eggs, bread and
orange juice for breakfast. Moreover, I occasionally
buy vegetables, like lettuce or onions. I love meat! I
buy chicken and beef every week. My favorite food is
drumsticks and a lot of pork. Finally I rarely eat in a
restaurant because it is expensive, I prefer to cook by
myself because it is cheap and I enjoy it.

Aoi, 22, Japan.

Most students in Japan prefer to eat healthy food, but also


easy to cook and cheap. I always go to the supermarket to
buy rice and vegetables. I’m a traditional woman. I don’t
eat a lot of Oyakodon (Chicken and egg bowl) because it
is not healthy if you eat it too much. I eat rice and soup
for breakfast, lunch and dinner! I always prepare a lot
of Tempura (fried vegetables), like potatoes, zucchini and
broccoli. In my country there is special dish called
Okonomiyaki (Japanese pancake). I love this dish and
sometimes my mother makes this special dish for me.
Finally, I don’t like noodles, but when I don’t have the
time I have to eat them.

From Mondays to Sundays
I am 17 years old, and daily what I do in my personal life to eat, is that I get up early
at 6 am to eat cereal, and at 11 am what I do is eat an order of steam tacos, or tacos
of whatever there is. Later in my house at the time of the meal my mom prepares
me picadillo, pollo, frijoles, etc. Then in the dessert some cookies, or ice cream. And

 Think carefully about what kind of restaurant
and
food you like. Also think about the name of your
restaurant, address and schedule.
 In restaurant menu, write the name of the dish, a
description of the ingredients, and the price.
 Divide the menu into 3 courses: starters, main
course & dessert. They must have 3 dishes with
their names, ingredients and prices.
 Include another section for drinks and the house special: add 3 drinks, their
ingredients and prices.
 Illustrate your menu; you can use the sample format or design your own by using the

 When you finish, display and explain your menu on the classroom for the other
