ROLE OF ICT IN TEACHING - LEARNING OF LANGUAGE

ABSTRACT –

It is being said that 21 Centurey is the period of science and technology.
Traditional method of teaching-learning are coming to an end. Technology
providing an opportunity in creating innovation and motivation to the
students. There is the beginning of internal communication through E-mail,
Whataap, Modern Education system. have understood the ability of E-
Learning ICT. is very useful for learning any Language – Marathi, Hindi,
English, etc. The aim of this study is to do survey of ICT. In learning and
teaching Four skills- Speaking, Reading, Writing, Listening. A teacher has to
understand the use of technology in imparting education for his pupils. The
teaching – Learning activity. should be pleasurable and more pleasant.
Teacher himself should have the knowledge of operating ICT. So ICT is
playing important role in 21st Century.

Key Words – Science and Technology, ICT, Teaching E-Learning, ICT tools.

Introduction –
Teaching – Learning process in one of the important process in the life of mankind. in ancient
time, pupils visited to he home of their owns. Ex. god Krishna and Sudama learn Sanskrit and
other skills in the Ashram of Sandipani. The learners have to remember all literatures. Lord
Macho lay established a new education policy in India. i.e. classroom and syllabus etc.
classroom time was fixed. Timetable was furmed. Teacher has to play key role in teaching
learning process. teacher become centre for importing education for pupils.

But there was beginning of science and technology in each and every field. Education system
was affected by technology. In 20th century there was revolution in science and technology.
The old education system was challenges of by new technology Black board were replaced.
by H.P PowerPoint presentation was started. Teacher learner became more active due to
availability of resources of knowledge. The boundary of the earning knowledge, timetable
comes to an end. The distance learning started according to desire of pupils. There was
beginning of new devices in learning of any language.

1. Radio –

Radio played important role in providing knowledge and entertainment. There


was need of electrical signals there were many educational programs on radio
directed by Balbaharti.

2. T.V –

T.V is one of the audio-visual instrument in education system. There are


various types of channels entertainment, related to higher education, Films
Sport. Madhuri Dixit teaches her step of dancing online Even poor pupils but
have interest in dancing can join her class and achieve his/her aim.

3 . Audio Devices.-

There are speakers earphone. CD etc. available in the market. Now a days the
prices of audio devices are cheap and eaisly accusable.

4. Mobile Devices –

There is smart pone and cell phones. There is YouTube in the smart phone. All
types of knowledge is available for the learning of language. Mobile can be
used for cahtting brwoing. Ity is cheap and easilbe Mobile learing it can be
done whenever and whatever without any obstacles

5. Computer Multimedia –
It is very useful for data collection

6. Internet –
There is email, www, text message facility provided by internet. There are
audio conferences.

7. E- Book –
Electronic book are available for study. They are very compact and dynamic.
There is change of traditional books into electronic form. The language learner
can put many books in the form of CD, DVD. There is a facility of multimedia
which offer us written information as well as sound, important images, films
and other elements.
8. Web Blogs –

This facility is available on internet. The scholars in various field i.e. political
social shows their knowledge through blogs. Blog writing is a present
communation is is individual creation for the development of society. Web
blogs are linked to journals authors this is reading resources for the learner.
Blogging becomes chatty and communicative when participant assumes
multiple roles in writing process.

9. Instant Messenger –

In 1996 the ICQ was developed as general messenger service. there is a


beginning of MSN messenger, Yahoo Messenger Services in the market the
language learner while acquainting four skills LSRW (Listening, Reading,
Speaking, Writing) Can use instant messenger there are more services are
added to the technology. Three are various types of websites ready to provide
knowledge of learning language in modern time.

10. Skype –

This is one of the modern technology. There is a need of laptop, computer


with camera. The learner can talk instructors directly and friends to get
knowledge this new technology can be used for learning language.

11. I-PODS –

I-Pods is mobile media. It enables user to produce organise deliver and use
media. The users can share texts images, charts, sketches, audio video clips w
with their teachers. The technology should go hand in hand in teaching learning
activity

Importance of ICT in Teaching – Learning of language / Literature –

1. There are many books available in the Form of movies ex. R.K. Narayans book the
Guide (English Novel)
The British Poetry are in the form of YouTube video
There is a film on it in Hindi Language
can be enjoyed by learner of language / literature
2. There are online libraries in the school colleges. There is availability of free online
books E-books etc.
Use of Google, Wikipedia, Dictionaries the learner can have Video clips on various
types Teacher can show video clips in the class. The learner can study pronunciation
under the guidance of author.
3. Student Website Student can make his own website and do learning process. Student
also have an opportunity to use word processing software in writing skill there is word
perfect and Microsoft word software It can be used.
4. Vocabulary is the soul of language/literature the learner can use online/offline
dictionaries. There are many standard dictionaries Oxford English Dictionary,
Webster’s dictionary etc. Dictionary provides standard authentic pronunciation.
5. Language lab has become important place in school/colleges. It gives an opportunity
to learner and teacher to import knowledge related to language / literature.
6. There is a lot of visual materials available on internet slides, pictures, images, videos
films on many subjects online resources are also available on internet. Teacher can
review the online context and give comment. Student can also edit and progress the
work.

7. There can be online submission of project, assignment and writing. Teacher can do
online revaluation. Students have an opportunity to progress the work with comments
and instructions given by teacher.
In this way, ICT is playing important role in teaching – learning activity.

Conclusion –
The use of ICT in teaching- learning process makes it happy and effective. Traditional
education system gave importance to class room learning teacher was only one source of
knowledge. But the development of science and technology is helping the teacher while
importing education to the pupils.. Teacher have a choices too use internet, e-books. E-
journals. PowerPoint presentation (P.P.P) The students have also plenty of option for the
selection of study material. the Student also can share the knowledge by using I.C.T In this
way every teacher and students must use ICT. Teacher can make his teaching more effective.
so Every Learner/ Teacher must welcome use of ICT in education system.
