A Place Like No Other

By: Jennifer A. Jarlego

Whenever I think of a place

Flashes of different colors
catch my age
Colors of varied hues
Have pointed how life turn its
cue

With the pain the fiery red

gives
And the lush green of envy
The feeling of weariness that
comes
Are perished by the touch of
Gods mercy

Every moment destiny takes

its course
Run along to where you belong
Where there is no hatred but
only love
In a place like no other which
we call ________.

After reading the poem, can

you identify what word is
being talked about? Can you
guess on what was supposed
to be written on the blank?
What do you think is best
describe as a place like no
other?
Yes, Lady?

For me ma’am, the word that best

the word that is being talked
about. So class, what do you

talked about in the sentence?
Anyone here has an idea?

Yes, Jenica?

That is right! The word that is

being talked about is called The word that is being talked about in

our topic for today.

3. Discussion:
A subject is a part of a
sentence. There are six part of
a sentence, but for now, we
will only be focusing on the
most important part which is
the subject.

The main topic of the sentence

is what we call as subject. It
can be a noun, a pronoun or a
noun phrase. When we say
noun, it can be a name of a
person, thing, place, animal,
idea or action. and a pronoun
is a word that is used instead
of a noun, example for this are,
he, she, I, it, we or they. While
noun phrase is a group of
words that acts like a noun in a
sentence for example “ I found
the owner of the dog.” The
“owner of the dog” is a noun
phrase. I have here some
example of a subject in a
sentence.

 Children are adventurous these

days.
 They participate in the annual
convention.
 The young poet writes about love
and nature.

The underlined words are the

subject in the sentence. Do you
understand class?

4. Enrichment Activity: Yes, Ma’am!

So class to further broaden
your knowledge about our
topic today, let us have this
activity. Read the direction
everyone!

Direction: Encircle the subject in each of

the given sentences.

1. The old abandoned house caught

fire last night.
2. You and I will be classmates again

5. Application:

to your groups earlier. This is
what you are going to do, from
your activity earlier I have
given you pictures right? So
from that picture, I want you

will give you 5(five) minutes
to do that. Do you understand
class?
You can start now!

think that proper
distinguishing of a subject is
important.

Everybody raise their hands.

For me ma’am, it is important that you

know what are the proper subject of
the sentence so that you could create
or make a sensible sentence that is
understandable for the one who read
