Fig. C Pre-embedded part which is composed of anchor
slab and straight anchor bars
C. O. 2 Q235 grade steel should be adopted for anchor slab of pre-embedded part. Hot
rolled steel bar of HPB235, HRB335 or HRB400 grade shall be adopted for anchor bar,
cold finished steel bar must not be used.
C. 0.3 The number of bearing straight anchor bars in pre-embedded part should not be
less than 4, and the number of layers should not be larger than 4; the diameter should
not be less than 8mm, and not larger than 25mm. Sheared pre-embedded part shall use
two straight anchor bars. The anchor bars of pre-embedded part shall he placed at the
inner side of outer main bars of element.
C. O. 4 T shaped weld shall be used in the connection for the straight anchor bar and
sla b. When the diameter of anchor bar is not larger than 20mm, submerged arc-welding
should be adopted; when the diameter of anchor bar is larger than 20mm, perforated
plug welding should be adopted. When manual welding is adopted, the weld height
should not be less than 6mm and (for HPB235 grade steel bar) or (for HRB335 or
HRB400 grade steel bar), is the diameter of anchor bar.
C. O. 5 The anchorage length of tensile straight anchor bar and flexural anchor bar
shall meet the following requirements:
1 When the tensile strength of anchor bar is fully used in calculation, the anchor
age length shall be calculated according to the following formula:
• 85 •
l.=a~d (C.0.5)

Where l.--Anchorage length of tensile steel bar (mm) ;

f,---Design value of axial compressive strength of concrete. which shall be
taken according to the provisions in current national standard "Code for
Design of Concrete Structures" GB 50010; when the strength grade of
concrete is higher than C40, it is taken as C40;
d--Nominal thickness of anchor bar (mm) ;
a--Appearance factor, for plain steel bar taken as 0.16, for ribbed bar taken
as O. 14.
2 For curtai n wall In seismic design. the anchorage length 0 steel bar shall be
taken as the 1. 1 times of the calculation value of formula (C. O. 5) in this code;
3 When the design value of tensile stress of anchor bar is less than the design val
ue of tensile strength of steel bar. the anchorage length may be properly decreased. but
shall not be less than 15 times of the thickness of diameter of anchor bar.
C. O. 6 The anchorage length of sheared and compressive straight anchor bar shall not
be less than 15 times of the diameter of anchor bar. Except compressive straight anchor
bar, when steel bars of HPB235 grade are adopted, hook of 180 degree shall be made at
the end of steel bar, of which the length of straight part of hook shall not be less than 3
times of the diameter of anchor bar.
C. O. 7 The thickness of anchor slab shall be determined with calculation according to
its load-carrying condition, and should be larger than O. 6 times of the diameter of an
chor bar. The distance between center of anchor bar and the edge of anchor slab shall
not be less than the larger one of 2 times of the diameter of anchor bar and 20mm
(Fig. C).
For tensile and bending pre-embedded part, the spacing, of steel bars and the dis
tance , between anchor bar and the edge of element shall all not be less than the larger
one of 3 times of the diameter of anchor bar and 45mm (Fig. C).
For sheared pre-embedded part, the spacing, of steel bars shall not be larger than
300mm, and shall not be less than the larger one of 6 times of the diameter of anchor bar
and 70mm; the distance between anchor bar and the edge of element shall not be less
than the larger one of 6 times of the diameter of anchor bar and 70mm, the spacing of
steel bars, the distance between anchor bar and the edge of element shall both not be
less than the larger one of 3 times of the diameter of anchor bar and 45mm (Fig. C).

Explanation of Wording in This Code

1 Words used for different degrees of strictness are explained as follows in order
to mark the differences in executing the requirements in this code:
1) Words denoting a very strict or mandatory requirement:
"Must" is used for affirmation; "must not" for negation.
2) Words denoting a strict requirement under normal conditions:
"Shall" is used for affirmation; "shall not" for negation.
3) Words denoting a permission of a slight choice or an indication of the most suit
able choice when conditions permit:
"Should" is used for affirmation; "should not" for negation.
"May" is used to express the option available, sometimes with the conditional per
mit.
2 "Shall comply with···" or "shall meet the requirements of"'" is used in this code
to indicate that it is necessary to comply with the requirements stipulated in other rela
tive standards and codes.
