Jifficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

O yourself
O a closet or drawer full of clothes
1. 1
Check the local news. What is the weather like? It's just common sense that you most likely wouldn't want to
wear shorts out in zero degree weather. Jeciding to wear pants or shorts in the morning is the farthest thing
from brain surgery, and that choice affects the rest of your dress.
2. 2
If you picked pants, then you have several options. Jeans and khakis are the most common, but jeans are the
simplest to match. It is pretty much a rule that almost any shirt will go with a pair of jeans, provided that you
(or someone else) have purchased a shirt that is not hideously ugly. Open for interpretation, of course. Now,
with jeans, almost any type of shirt can be worn. Long sleeve, short sleeve are all good to go, as are t-shirts, v-
necks, and collared shirts. Khaki pants, however, are considered more formal, so usually only collared shirts
are paired, though they can be either short or long sleeved. But before you walk out of the house, see the bullet
on color!!
3. 3
If you picked shorts, then the task of dressing may seem a bit more complicated. The usual types of shorts are
athletic wear and khaki shorts, though there are some that wear jean shorts. If athletic shorts are your choice,
then you are bound to wear a short-sleeved t-shirt, and not a collared shirt. If you are going for khaki shorts,
then you may wear a collared shirt or a nice t-shirt. Khaki shorts are a bit more formal than athletic, so keep
that in mind.
4. 4
Now that you've picked your outfit, you think you're ready to go? Not so fast. Before you walk out that door,
you actually have to match in terms of color as well as type of clothing. We'll keep it simple; all you have to do
is keep these rules in mind, and you'll be all set.
·. ·
As we've said before, denim jeans pretty much can be worn with any appropriately normal shirt. This license is
also extended to the color (or shade) black. Be it a black shirt or a pair of black shorts, choosing a
complimenting garment is as simple as it gets: any color goes, even multicolored. Except for black, of course,
unless you've set out to look like the grim reaper.
6. 6
If you're looking to be a bit more adventurous than that, you are embarking on a voyage into murky water.
Well, the Armani models at the fashion shows may put bright green and bright orange together, but does that
mean the everyday man should? Probably not. If you're not trying to seek out attention, a simple look is
probably best, with more sedate colors than neon green. Colors like brown, green, blue, red, orange, and pink if
you're adventuresome are the ones you're most likely to be wearing.
7. 7
It is usually common to mix light with dark. Two dark blue garments will make you look intensely blue, and
that is probably not what you're out for. If you're wearing a dark pair of jeans, perhaps a lighter shirt is best.
And it you're wearing khaki pants, either a dark collared shirt or a really bright one, like light blue, are your
best bets.
8. 8
A word about patterns: only one at a time, and only on one garment! Plaid shorts and a striped shirt are a big
no. If you want to wear a pattern, keep the rest of your outfit on solid colors.
