Paroxetine is an organic compound that is composed of four functional groups Oxalic acid,
Malic acid, Fumaric acid and I-Tartaric acid. Paroxetine belongs to a group of medicine called
“Selective Reuptake Inhibitors” which is a class of drugs that are typically used as an
antidepressant in the treatment of the major depressive disorder, in which will balance the
chemical inside the brain. The patient shouldn’t be taking paroxetine if they are also using
pimozide or thioridazine which might lead to serious heart problems. The molecular weight of
Paroxetine is approximately 329.4 g/mol containing 1 H bond donor and also contains 5
Hydrogen bond acceptors. The exact mass of Paroxetine is 329.142722 g/mol. This organic
compound does not have any formal charges. Physical properties of this organic compound are
solid with a boiling point at - 451.7±45.0, melting point at -129-131°C and solubility is -5.4
mg/mL. Functional groups in Paroxetine could be applied to many things for example Fumaric
Acid could be applied to the process of making wheat and I-Tartaric also used for acidulant in
