KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

Prof. Hamza has worked in the field of Geotechnical Engineering and Foundation Design for major
consulting firms and his growing list of clients since 1975. His engineering consulting activities were
mainly in Geotechnical Analysis for some major projects in England and abroad during the early period
of his practice. Prof. Hamza spent 10 years in England, and feels he owes his geotechnical knowledge
and experience, education, training and consulting practice to his professors and colleagues during his
years at Imperial College.

Prof. Hamza has been involved in Geotechnical Analysis and Foundation Design for the most
prestigious and complex projects in Egypt. In addition, he has designed all the multi-basement projects
constructed or under construction in Egypt. Projects designed by Prof. Hamza are well instrumented for
soil, soil structure interaction, and imbedded structures to monitor behavior, with a huge volume of field
measurement available to him.

Prof. Hamza became Professor of Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering at Suez Canal
University in 1992, and since then continues to serve as Engineering Consultant to the University. He
has published about 18 project-related reviewed papers.

Prof. Hamza provided geotechnical designs of the dynamic compaction technique, vertical flexible
drains, micro piles, grouted piles, ground anchors, jet grouting, diaphragm walling with horizontal
continuous reinforcement, vibro-floatation techniques and reinforced earth. In the field of Geotechnical
Design, Prof. Hamza introduced and routinely uses analysis of two and three dimensional analytical
methods utilizing elasto-plastic soil and rock models, and advanced geotechnical investigation
techniques such as dialtometer, piezocone, electric-cone, seismic-cone, geophysical survey and
computer controlled laboratory testing.
